I never thought of that, MSX. Thanks for the recommendation! :thumb:

A youtube game reviewer / commentator that I have enjoyed watching to unwind at the end of a day is (
http://www.youtube.com/user/Northernlion) Northernlion. The commentary style is quite laid back with a decent dose of off-the-cuff humour. Most videos are approx 20-30 minutes long which is possibly a little longer than you're looking for but if you're falling asleep then that might not matter :)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. :)
Hahaha that's great. Heard about that ages ago but never got around to watching it. :D

Hmm alright I've been trying to get into the yogcast videos and after watching a whole bunch I think I'm done. Most of it sounds like constant inane yammering half the time having little to do with the actual game. And their site navigation is natrocious trying to find a video on a particular game is nigh on impossible. Why is there no search? why aren't the videoed grouped by series? Why so many mine craft ones ? Selecting a specific author doesn't even matter since half the time someone else is commenting anyway

Yeah, in one episode they talked about recipes & food for the entire video they were supposed to be commenting on WoW strategy, and I don't think they said a single word about the game going on right in front of them. (I lolled, anyway). If you're going into them expecting good playthrough videos that really feature the games, this is not that kind of series. Constant innane yammering, yeah, that sounds more like them.
It's about their humor & banter, which you either find funny or not. Things like the (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REvFrEsf0B4) giant Sjin head episode or Garry's Mod (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctJz3HqsTTI) robo sumo (to take recent ones) I found very funny, and things like the (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJezMI2ibH0) Christmas music video or Little Inferno videos, or the video where they went below deck in an aircraft carrier and interviewed some random worker, surprisingly touching. They're not on fire every episode, but there's something to watch every episode, and a hit every week or 2. And yes, they're pretty much (now) a Minecraft group that sometimes does other games.
They got people hooked on a plot-based series called "Israphel" that's been out of commission for a bit because their server for it is a disaster. And now their Tekkit series is cresting and it's not clear what's next. They did have playlists for each series (they might still, but they may be hidden), but now they're churning them out every day, I think people just watch every day and use the "next" and "previous" video icons at the end of the videos to follow them.
It's also probably harder to get into them now than if you'd started watching in the early days (the pre-Israphel videos, or even pre-Minecraft) and would know their personalities & sense of humor and have a sense of loyalty to the series, sticking with it since it was a small silly thing. I think they grow on people.

Since last time, I've watched through all the Mr Plinkett reviews and a good bunch of the Half in the Bag ones as well, and also Yogscast's Trucking Tuesday videos, some Earwolf video podcasts, and TNG edits. Currently I'm about a hundred episodes into Puddin'. It's a one-panel live-action comicstrip about a guy eating pudding and then another guy shows up and says something outrageous. I think they've made about 400 episodes so far, here's a good one I saw recently:

But if anyone has any more recomendations, I'll take em! Also disregard the 20 minute requirement, I found a cool YouTube player for iPad that supports playlists (something that the standard YT player, idiotically enough, did not support).

Since this thread got ressurected, I can also recommend a (
http://www.youtube.com/user/Iamxplay/videos?view=0) list of old X-Play episodes I found, which is a game review show from TechTV / G4 hosted by Morgan Webb and Adam Sessler. Sure it's mostly outdated by now, but I always watched it more for the humour, with endless jokes and quips of the hosts; it's really more entertainment and poking fun at games than proper reviews.

I've been watching Leonard Susskind Standford physics lectures on YouTube. There's just something about the way he teaches that's really satisfying for me... His lectures are self-contained so that everything you need to know is in the lecture itself, and yet you also feel like you're getting the whole picture of the subject; just enough and exactly enough to know what's really going on and not some fake cartoon version you usually get in popular science books and Discovery Channel shows.
And there's just something to be said for a field where there's pretty broad consensus that at least this much is Truth. The human and social sciences are great fun to banter over a beer and all, but sometimes you want to know what the world is actually like without a lot of quibbling and smoke & mirrors. And that's what lectures like LS's offer. I recommend. Just search his name in YouTube and they'll come up.

Wow - that is a truely terrible idea.
Watching TV/a screen before bed/in bed has got to be the worst thing you can do for your sleep cycle!
If this has been necromanced as a thread - perhaps the OP can say if this (IMO terrible terrible idea) was in any way shape or form a 'good plan'.

Eh... I was sleeping like a log before I started watching shows on the iPad and I've slept like a log since.
I also usually hit the snooze button for a good hour before getting up in the morning. Is that a "good plan"?
Heh.
You could say that, when it comes to sleeping... I don't play by the rules.
