Back when I owned a TV and used to pass out with it on, I'd sleep a damn lot better with the voices in vapid Tv-land than the ones in my head, conspiring to sift through all the things.

The full 10 hour long They're Taking The Hobbits to Isengard of course. Or a Nigel Mansell interview.

Wow - that is a truely terrible idea.
Watching TV/a screen before bed/in bed has got to be the worst thing you can do for your sleep cycle!
If this has been necromanced as a thread - perhaps the OP can say if this (IMO terrible terrible idea) was in any way shape or form a 'good plan'.
Well, some of us have willpower...

I think you're in the wrong forum.

I've been watching Leonard Susskind Standford physics lectures on YouTube. There's just something about the way he teaches that's really satisfying for me... His lectures are self-contained so that everything you need to know is in the lecture itself, and yet you also feel like you're getting the whole picture of the subject; just enough and exactly enough to know what's really going on and not some fake cartoon version you usually get in popular science books and Discovery Channel shows.
Yeah, I just finished one of his books and was very impressed. I have next to no background in physics but even though he went into some pretty mind-bending territory (Holographic Principle? WTF?), I never felt lost or talked down to. So thanks for the heads-up on his lectures; I'm definitely going to check them out.

henke: Since you mentioned enjoying Angry Video Game Nerd (my favorite internet show easily) here is a few similar-ish shows which are on a similar level:
* Angry Joe (reviews of games and occasionally movies)
* 16 Bit Gems (reviews of the hosts favorite Super Nintendo games)
* TheSpoonyOne (mix of movie, videogame and pen and paper memories videos)
If you don't mind going to websites other than youtube, Cinemassacre (AVGN's homepage) host a hell of alot of other videos since James Rolfe (aka The Nerd) writes and directs his own movies. The site of 16 bit gems (Clan of The Grey Wolf) do weekly video podcasts on varying topics and Spoony's tends to upload new vids to his site weekly.
A few non youtube but good internet shows are:
* Happy Videogame Nerd
* The Nostalgia Critic (old movie and tv show reviews)
* The Nostalgia Chick (same as the critic except more chick related movies/shows. Enjoyable regardless).
* Pure Pwnage - If you've never heard of this one then I don't know what rock you've been under. The first internet show that I ever got into. Even made it onto normal tv later on.

Physics is one of those subjects which everyone ought to dip into at least a bit. There's fascinating shit in every direction.

You don't need it at all Dethtoll. Most of the popular physics books rely on metaphors.
