Recommend some semi obscure FPS games from the last 5 years that will run on my comp - by io organic industrialism

I don't see how Doom 3 and Undying are comparable in any way.

They're both basically a load of wasted potential damaged by boring gameplay. They're both hideously linear, and while in other games that doesn't mean much, for a game like Undying it just becomes all the more noticable when you rattle a door, it's locked, you move on, the game funnels you back down the hallway 5 minutes later and the door's unlocked because you're supposed to go through it- and you can't go back the way you came.
Fuck that game.

If you dont mind going back further than 5 years heres 2 I`d recommend. One is a full game in its own right and the other is a mod for UT:
Chasm - You cant get much more obscure than this game. I dont know very many people who have played this one. This game starts off REALLY average then gets really good by the time you get to the 3rd level and onwards.
Operation Na Pali - A better expansion to Unreal than the official one. Simply an excellent excellent mod. I absolutely loved it.

Well, so it's insufferably old school. If you can get past the mechanics, it's still plenty atmospheric. It's an old-fashioned, scary shooter and I don't think it ever tried to sell itself as anything else, tbh.

I wouldn't recommend Undying. It suffers from the same problem Doom 3 has- it gets boring very, very quickly. Too many monsters, too much action, not enough suspense, NOT ENOUGH EXPLORATION.
Yeah, I had exactly the same complaints. What they hell were those morons thinking, putting all the action and monsters in what's supposed to be an action monster-shooting game? The nerve of them!
Also, there are too goddamn many pegs in Peggle!

Chasm is love. For some reason I absolutely adore the atmosphere. Also, probably the first fps I played that allowed for actual dismemberment, and I don't mean your usual gibbing, you could shoot off a baddies arm and have him still charge at you! :D
Pity there seems to be stolen content in the game (some textures are lifted from Quake etc.)

Considering the creator of this thread is asking for FPS games, I do believe it is you, sir, who should GTFO.

Well one would assume he wants those FPS games to be good, so a better suggestion would be for you to STFU.

Undying is great, have to play it and judge for yourself. Linear yes, it still does look good even today. So far and few between are the FPS horror games. I thought the scenery was great in areas, loved being teleported back in time, and dealing with the monks. That scene alone was breath taking. A lot of people mentioned Undying around here, and liked the game.
Let him judge, and yes, shut up. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.
