Don't get me wrong, there are some parts Undying had that I thought were excellent- and the Thief inspiration is almost palpable in some places. I just wish it was more. Don't get me wrong, sometimes linearity works. In this case, it doesn't. It didn't in Doom 3 either.

Hell yes. Vietcong 2 isn't as good, but the first game is absolutely amazing (except for a few areas where it kinda sucks). Unless you hate tactical shooters, get this.
My run through this was aborted by my patching the game. I didn't notice the bit about each patch rendering all of your save games incompatible with the previous version. That delightful little detail aside, I had been enjoying it, so I'll back this suggestion too, even if I haven't restarted it yet.
