I've got Thief 1 and 2 , but cant seem to get them to work on Win xp sp 2 home, (3.0 Ghz, 1024 RAM, ATI Radeon X300 SE 64 mbs graphics), tried the temp hyperthreading and did get thief 2 to play, but the next time I tried it, it crashed with some error message about not enough memory for the video hardware card? and then it kept crashing all the time so I had to uninstall it, was very annoyed about that.
But I was wandering, was there ever a Thief 1 demo? I know there was a thief 2 demo, was that any good? was the level interesting
I know Thief Gold has many problems in runnning it, i cant find where places sell it, but were the 3 new levels and extras any good?
Ive seen and read a lot of good things about Thief2X and take it, that should be a must have?
any other recommendations for single thief fan missions
I just wanted to see what ive missed so far, when i used to play thief 1 and 2 on the old pc, had so much fun with it, wonderful games.
I was also wandering if any one has links to interviews and articles with Looking Glass Studios, as I've not yet read any, and would find that really interesting

Thief 1, Gold, 2 and 2X all work perfectly fine on WinXP. Did you read through the red FAQ at the top of the forum? The out of memory video error sounds exactly the same as a problem (and fix) listed in there.
I'm not sure about a Thief 1 demo, i don't ever recall one, but i could be wrong. Thief 2 demo level was The Life of the Party (although with a few very minor modifications). Was it any good? I believe Life of the Party is one of the best levels in all of computer gaming....
I believe Thief Gold is infinitely better than Thief 1 in terms of story. The extra levels (2 of them anyway, the third not so much) add to the story and make it feel much more complete. As mentioned before, Thief Gold works perfectly fine on Windows XP with the HT fix and the Direcf3d texture memory fix.

the thief 1 demo is baffords manor, exept without the frond gate, one servant, and the arrow cache. NO secret area with the spiders too. More starting loot and more things to buy. Game ends when you find the septer. Itwould be best to skip it. The thief 2 demo has a few things left out of LOTP though. This one is worth your time.

I wander where I can find Thief Gold?
I havent played Thief 3, supposed to be a very good game but not as good as the originals, especially as the levels are much smaller (apparently)
A few other things Ive noticed, Im sure Im not the only one who thinks that Thief 2 has a hybrid Medieval / Victorian style mixed with some Art Deco, while Thief 1 is all Medieval,
but what style is Thief 3 set in? is it more like Thief 1?
I also much prefered the voices of the guards in T1 than in T2, I didnt like the ladies guard voices but thought the old english guards in T1 were brilliant "Taffer!!!!!!!"

Ok, the TG demo is a small slice of the thieves guild. TG would be best over T1, seeing that coucan play T1 FM's for TG.
If you do play the TG demo, realize there is more then one way to finish the level.
And the T3 demo is good, but i havent played it in awhile.

Yes ,Thief 3 is surely more like Thief 1; and I agree the voices sound better in T1 to me.

Overall I think I prefer Thief 1 as the best, it was the first I played (although I bought them at the same time) also at the time I had some problem instlaling thief 2 as it wouldnt recognise cd2 for some reason although the 3rd time i tried it it worked fine. (on the old computer)
Thief 1 is medieval, thief 2 is a hybrid of medieval / victorian anda bit of art deco, and i personally prefer it to be medieval, its also more dark, and i got a bit annoyed with stepping on so many metal surfaces all the time
also thief 1 was more 'terrifiying' what with all the haunts, zombies, etc
there were times were I just could Not play becuase I was that scared, one level was The Haunted Cathedral, in the end I never could play me, scacred me stiff

Yer, thieves bloody guild (the demo level in fact), the one I'm stuck on now :( Well if it was installed. I think it's on my broken computer. At least I HOPE the savefiles are there :D
