I can take talking during gameplay. It's the douchebags who insist on having a webcam feed of their face in the corner at all times who blow my mind. And then there's the people who, believe it or not, play music over the game. These are thankfully rare, but still, really?

My advice is Fraps is fine and use Handbreak to immediately downsize the files after they come in.

I downloaded this, but it doesn't seem to capture fullscreen. I tried capturing a bit of MXGP but it only recorded my Steam library in the background.

Gonna try out DXtory as well.

I usually use Fraps, but wouldn't mind something that causes less slowdown.

Adding verbal commentary is kinda outta the question, I don't have a mic :P
What I do is add text to the video for a kind of subtitled commentary. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pd8VDqK-wTI&list=PLb27iro9gascI8eOskzH4volQ-h1BXq7y&index=5) Example. (Yeah, it's terrible, don't judge. I was going for something like (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoUfmN5RrcQ&index=2&list=PLB2BECA2C3C05BD89) this, in fact.)

So, I think I'm going to test out Bandicam's demo version. Maybe look at DXtory too.

Virtuadub is another option, and Handbrake works great for compressing.

I agree but take it a step further - if you're the 99% of LPs which would be ruined because of your narration, just don't do it in the first place.

Just search for let's plays with "no commentary" in the title. There's certainly a demand for let's plays by people who know to just shut up and play, and plenty of youtubers are catering to that audience.

Wouldn't a video with no commentary technically not be a 'Let's Play' anymore at that point? That's pretty much just a gameplay video. I guess though people who like to watch Let's Plays would be searching as such so it'd make it easier to find if you make a video without commentary but still put 'Let's Play' in the title.
