... since the "What are you playing?" megathread has been killed...
I'm always late to the party, but I've now started playing Undead Nightmare. Since I played the original game, I've upgraded my TV, and man, does this game look amazing on a 50" plasma TV! I wouldn't have thought that the new screen would make such a difference... Even at 720p, it's one of the most gorgeous games I've played, whether on PC or console.
It's also one of the only games I've played in the last 10 years or so that makes me feel like old-time explorey games such as Ultima VII. (Note: Not entirely true - there are moments in Arma 2 where I get that same feeling. And then I usually get shot in the head by a soldier 250m away.) The world it evokes feels alive in a way that even the most gorgeous-looking scripted game never does.
Is anyone here (still) playing the multiplayer part of RDR on PS3? It'd be fun to meet up some time, although I usually find it difficult to play MP at specific times, at least when the GF's home. :-)
P.S.: I know that there's an old RDR thread, but I wasn't sure whether thread necromancy was as bad as megathreads...

Yay, let's -
:(
I've only played Undead Nightmare for about an hour, mostly
hunting yeti and exploring, but I'm enjoying the use of already existing characters in a zombie universe. Makes you actually care about whether they die or not for a change.
Also, any idea where to get fresh live horses? The undead ones get really bitchy when you ride them.

Having not played UN very much, I'm not sure if there are any horses that can be broken running wild? Without wanting to spoil things I do know that some special mounts are available later on in the game.

It won't take long for you to come upon one of the four horses of the apocalypse. They're fast, tireless and much less temperamental than the zombie horses.

I've got the PS3 version. I usually just play singleplayer, as I'm still trying to finish the regular game (not undead nightmare, but I do have it.) I've played multiplayer quite a few times before; the undead nightmare co-op match is pretty cool. (You know, the waves of zombies?)
In an unrelated note, I'm worried about my PS3; it started making a weird noise when I turn it on recently. Strange thing is, it doesn't always happen when I turn it on, and stranger still, it stops after about maybe 30 seconds? I'm thinking it is the blu-ray player going bad, but I'm not sure. :(

Great game (RDR and Undead Nightmare both). I have them on 360 or I'd be down for some MP. Anyone on my platform hit me up.

Hm, I really don't think the RDR/UN graphics are especially amazing. IMO, it's just an effect of switching to bigger/quality screen and you would feel the same with any other game.
As for the UN, I feel it was rather unnecessary to release
such add-on. It totally ruins the atmosphere of the original and dumb RDR down.

Oh, I'm sorry, but that's rubbish. If you don't like it then just leave it alone and it can't detract from the original atmosphere at all. And dumbing down does not mean what you think it does.

I'm not a big fan myself so I didn't go near it. Didn't buy it, problem solved.
I wouldn't say it dumbs the game down but I'd describe it a rather low-rent idea. Zombies and sex sell (not together, obviously). I was disappointed as I wanted more gun-toting classic western stuff. I like zombies, but not in my own personal western sandbox. I might have mentioned it before
