Sometimes you sound like a less verbose Jack Thompson.

The difference between me and him is that I think games that offend me should be legal simply based on principle: If somebody were offended by a game that I think is good, I wouldn't want them to be able to ban it. Tolerance goes both ways.
Second, There's a difference between games that successfully integrate complex, mature themes and integrate them into the plot(most Bioware games) and games that simply throw in sex, booze, and drugs as possible to appeal to a 12 year old's idea of "maturity"(just about any Rockstar game).

Out of interest, what do you think about
Saints Row 2, which fits your description way more? Regardless of what you may want to criticise about the game, if they wanted to appeal to a 12 year old first and foremost,
GTA IV would look very different.

well, GTA4 has a 16+ story and characters but dialogue and gameplay mechanics for 12year olds. it's a fair comparison imo.

I think that's more subjective then anything. Vice City was the high point for Rockstar imo, each following GTA got worse with GTA4 imo having the greatest problems marrying "serious" storytelling with juvenile action genocide gameplay and boring social minigames. It's just good for running over pedestrians but for that it's very good.
This. Almost exactly how I feel about GTA IV.

Nah, Bully was mint.

I've actually heard Bully was a pretty good game, and the story was actually focused on some good themes(about a troublemaking kid standing up to bullies and finding his niche) instead of Rockstar's usual degenerate tripe.
Bully is a fantastic game. Gameplay and story-wise, it's aces and well-written with tongue firmly in cheek, but without any pathological cynicism to the proceedings. Plus it's just a joy to play and cause general havok in. Pulling that fire alarm switch never gets old.

Never played it. Never heard of the series before the first one's demo popped onto Xbox Live, and I only lasted about five minutes before deleting it. It just seemed very juvenile and stupid.

I'm really dying to hear about these gameplay mechanics for the over 12s.

QFT.
CCC played a game for 15 mins before getting bored out of his mind. Attention span is fitting I suppose.

If I was that impatient and hyperactive, would I have high praises for games like Baldur's Gate 2 and Demons Souls?
There are quite a few games where you can tell before the end of the first level that they aren't your cup of tea.
Besides, there are quite a few thing that you can get bored of doing in 15 minutes. For example watching paint dry, an experience far more interesting and mentally invigorating than many games released these days (disclaimer: Most of the AAA titles this year were actually pretty fun)
