It doesn't look like golden age westerns, though. It looks more like Sergio Leone, in terms of tone and visuals.
nah, I'd say Young Guns, certainly not Leone or Ford.
B/W filter is easily achieved by draining your TV or monitor of color....no need for inengine filter ;)

Yeah, the first Red Dead was Leone, but this looks even more modern. I'd go up to the 1990's neo-renaissance (Young Guns 1 and 2, Unforgiven, Tombstone, Maverick, Wyatt Earp, Quick and the Dead, etc... even Silverado ('85)).
And you know, I completely forgot about the Cat. Control Center's color correction has a grey-scale option.
And Matthew, I wouldn't want it only b/w either. I would probably want it to be an option.

Agreed, but it needs grainy film stock effect and that sort of thing too :D
I'm getting quite excited about this game, B&W or not.

IIRC, the last game had one. I'll have to replay it soon in preparation for the sequel.
Interestingly, the first Red Dead game was a Capcom developed game. It had NOTHING to do with R*. However, development stagnated, and R* offered to buy it and all of its rights from Capcom. It was ~ 3/4 finished, and R* merely tweaked a few things, polished and whatnot. I believe the audio/voice acting was all R*'s as well. SO, this will be the first time they have developed a western game from the ground up and it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Agreed. I have seen dozens and dozens of Western movies (and countless #s of television episodes). Even stll, Silverado stands out as one of the better ones. Kevin Costner was great in that one. Very outgoing role for him.

As much as I like the "classic" Westerns, I prefer the cynicism and reflection of the revisionist films.
Eg I rate The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance as one of John Ford's finest in the genre, easily as good as The Searchers and My Darling Clementine.
P.S. I regard Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West is one of finest films ever made.

God, I hope this gets a PC port in 6 months...
