The first two games were linear shooters, the third was a third-person open-world GTA-esque shooter, now the fourth is some kind of bug hunt- no surprise that it has little to nothing to do with the previous games.
I'll pretend it doesn't have the Red Faction name associated with it. Gotta say I like the bug design, the segmented joints and bristly spines on the limbs look like scaled-up locusts.

I see no ability to load up a ute with remote charges, crash it through the front of some cheerful municipal building, jump out and blow the whole lot sky high.
No sale.

Looks like a Starship Troopers mod for Doom 3.

I just played the RFA demo (on 360) and this is the line I was going to use if it turned out to be shit:
Red Faction: Armageddon is not a red fraction of the game that Red Faction: Guerilla was.
But sadly, I can not, for it is quite good. Viewing the gameplay videos and trailers for RFA, the direction they were taking with it seemed an odd one. But playing the demo it's clear that they had a very clear vision of what this game would be like all along. It's a third person shooter with some very satisfying weapons, set in Total Recall inspired Mars spacestation-slums and cavesystems. The Black Hole gun is particular is one of the better BFG's I've used in recent times. And the magnetgun actually works! Sadly the hammer has been replaced by a more generic PowerPunch, but at least this one doesn't take up a weapon-slot and it has it's own hotkey. The enemies aren't anything we haven't seen before: there's fast small ones and though big ones and so on. Overall I don't think the final game will turn out to be better than RFG, but Volition should be commended for having the balls to go in this direction. They could easily have churned out a crowdpleasing RF: Guerilla 2 and made big bucks. But instead they chose to make the game they wanted to make.

Is the Syfy Channel TV movie prequel, (
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1693872/) RF: Origins, any good?
EDIT:- Heh, turns out the T-1000 plays the Space Asshole.

No enemy will be as funny as the naked apemen in the first red faction.
