NW, the rats Thief reference is undoubtedly intentional, and kind of funny considering the large role rats play in the game. I also heard a guard say "just the wind I guess" so the chances of a coincidence are, as they say, dropping rapidly.
I heard there was also a Bear Pits type conversation, but I haven't heard it myself yet.

And when the guards are susupicious and searching for you saying the same things: "I'll find you" etc., just like in Thief.
I finished it last night and simply it's amazing. I missed a couple of runes and loots and I have to restart and finish it this time with total loot. Unfortunately the game losts its Thievish feeling on halfway and changes its atmosphere to Half-Life 2, but HL2 is also a favorite, so it was also a good choice. Dishonored is certainly a game of the year so far.

This Easter Egg
can be found in the Flooded District mission of Dishonored, which is Mission 7 numerically. Upon reaching Daud's Base, you'll find two guards in the middle of training. This speech is almost exactly the same as the tutorial mission from Thief the Dark Project.

Yep, that's the one I was talking about.

Well that's because Viktor Antonov - creator of the HL2 Eastern European world - was behind the environments. :cheeky:
Man, all my favorite developers behind one game? I'm so jelly right now, so I must finish my gaming rig right away. Then I can enjoy this masterpiece of a title. :cheeky:
I just can't wait. :cheeky:

Loving Dishonored so far.
It amazes me how many people over at the Steam forums complain a ton about how un-Thiefy-like the game is, how it's the worst stealth title to date, how it's too short, ummm...the list goes on and on. :(
Seems to me there are two basic consumers of this game: those that appreciate a game for what it is, and those that can never be satisfied (with a large portion of the latter being those that blast through everything without taking time to experience everything the game has to offer).
Who else feels like the game's either "Thief 4", or at the very least, a "Thief 3.5"? I know I do. Dishonored has done a very commendable job of filling a sizable void within my gamer's soul that needed some Thief right about now. And the fact that you can customize the HUD to your liking is a HUGE bonus to making this game rank up there with all the other must-plays in my library. The more I play it, the more I love it.
As for it being "too short"...I've played about 22hrs so far in it, and I'm sure I missed a ton of stuff. Like the Bear Pits reference mentioned above. And the mention of the training mission for the assassins...can't wait. Consulting a walkthrough, just to see how many missions there are...looks like I've got 3 left, so I think the game is just about right. No filler, no fluff...all Thief-y goodness inside. What more could I want? yum :)

It's certainly the Thiefiest game published in a long time, if you choose to play it that way. I mean, seriously, the way loot and in-game fiction works, the feel of the world, the end-mission summary - the only way it could be more Thieflike is if they gimped their awesome combat systems and gave you back a light gem.
I can't say I've had any issues sneaking around without one, though.
