Reviewing Old Notes and Missions I suppose are a habit. However, when it comes to OCD or the design of the level in general. How is the best result to just distance. Measure twice cut once type of deal?
I ask because though I have always messed with DromEd until I had more time to create a full on mission (which I recently found more time obviously). Is there a method or perhaps experienced tips anyone can give so that level design or the skeleton/architecture doesn't take a seven hours (I know this varies with the size of the level) to a day to finish?
Textures aren't the issue, its getting the idea off paper I find trouble with because it's rather I overestimate and have to Reportalize the level all over or I end up taking notes from the Official Missions. Thief Gold and Metal Age respectively of course. I also deal with the New Dark Engine. I believe it was version 1.24 for both games and already I can notice small, but significant changes to DromEd.
It's all the matter of adjusting I suppose....

It's a matter of just feeling it I think.
Roughly, I'd say 1 unit in Dromed is about 1 foot in real life (not sure if that's official, but it looks about right).
Most textures fit well in 8x8 increments, so if I'm building a house, I'd usually go about 16 units up per storey on the outside, with the interior floors ending up at 12-14 units high.
But yeah, unless you are a confident structural engineer, just reportalise and go in game constantly until you get a good feel for scale.

This time frame is wildly inaccurate, even when you are highly experienced. These aren't Doom levels you crank out, they can take weeks or months (or years in some cases) to complete just the architecture. Then there's all of the object placement, AI placement and patrols, scripting events, objectives, and lots of testing...

I'm wondering whether he meant "seven hours per day".
Welcome to the forum, SilverJackal!

A map like Midnight in Murkbell takes a about 2-3 months to carve out. The remaining stuff takes about 6 months. If you know what you're doing.

Well, you know how they say. Start small when building, but being too over ambitious can lead to see how much you're dedicated.
@Tannar, I'm a woman, but I haven't gotten around to filling out my information yet. (No offense taken though.) Thank you for the warm welcome. Though to be honest, I've always been kinda lurking here, but due to creation, I stepped it up a notch and joined TTLG Forums :)
Also, here's what I've been working on for a mission called Shadow's Bane (had blueprints for five years now). Though at the time because of life, it took forever just to start. Mainly because I believe I play more missions than make them. Haha.

"Use" is not activated. You need to snap the brushes to the grid or DromEd will explode ;)

The official stance was that 1 unit = 1 foot, but that doesn't quite feel right or add up.
The player is 6 units high, while most enemies are 6.5-7 units high. Unless the whole world is full of very tall people, that doesn't seem right.
1 unit = 25cm feels closer, though that's slightly too small (as it would leave Garrett at 150cm and tall Mechanists at 175.)
1 unit = 28cm is probably more accurate, but that's an awkward number.

Damn, welcome to the forums! So glad to have a new builder join the ranks!

Thank you everyone... you know what? As a special bonus, seeing after five years of hanging on to my notes, and whatever else. Here, I welcome you to look over what I have had since 2010 (A long time ago, I know). Feel free to ask if you want any of the missions. As I mentioned before, I can be a little over ambitious.
Missions are as follows:
Couple of small looting missions,
Shadow's Bane (which I posted screenshots earlier),
A couple of dreams that helped me map my anxiety when tough times were presenting themselves,
A full storyline of a Shadow Group that formed away from the Mechanist Order, only to have corruption within their own group and Keepers must step in (No Garrett in that one, I have typed pages, but no maps) called themselves "The Agency" and....
A 16 full on mission/game collab (please note the index cards, maps and semi finished script. This one too not having Garrett, but another man who found himself an ex Noble of Cyric neighboring The City.)
So yeah... um... that about covers all the plans. Again if you find anything of interest. Or want to take something off my hands. Let me know!

I do hope I am not overwhelming anyone here. It's all the best I can offer to the community of TTLG. I've just now mustered up the courage to share this all with you. Regardless if I am a novice by many standards. I hope many of you here will find this useful to a degree...
