The balcony will get you to the same place in the sewers as the stairs down from inside. When you get to the first closed, gate, Melissa, you'll find there's a lever just on the other side of the gate, right-hand side, that you can frob to open it. The last gate that closes just as you get to it only takes you out into the water below the balcony that rb47 mentioned. The Emerald is found before you get to that gate, in the basement area.

Originally posted by Haunt-of-DOOM I think the badcogg secret should be a tad more rewarding. After all, you had to risk life, and sanity to get it. Life and sanity? You're taffing me! Busting a few zombie heads on the way isn't exactly what I would call hard work :D Geez, this coming from a guy who used to loathe undead. But seriously, this is one of the easiest of the non-scary undead areas found in an FM today.. (no offense to you Schwaa, if it were any worse I would've stopped playing the FM right there!) All you have to do is walk by and [well, you know, don't want to give spoilers away] and that's it. The treasure looks so damn cool anyway, who cares if you don't get to take most of it with you.. Actually (and this is similar to the bow upgrade, so if you haven't found that, chances are you should just leave this to the pros) there's a hidden coin that unlocks the rest if you frob in the right place. It's one of those puzzles where you first need to unlock one thing which unlocks another, etc. etc. It took me 22 hours, but I finally got all that damn gold! Let's see, a total of 45.2 mil? That's the most loot in any FM or OM! You'll never guess the spot though.. It's quite hard ... So yes, other than the few mil BadCogg's secret is far from rewarding :laff:
EDIT: Anyone give me a hint or two about the Trickster's Ruby? I found the other two, but this one seems to be very elusive.. Also, I'm horribly bad at sense of direction, so this may be why (thinking I've been through the entire FM while I've missed several spots). We should really find a professional auto-mapper, I do appreciate the effort spent to make this one somewhat indicative of the area, but it only offers general hints, and I'm too stupid to know where I am unless there's an arrow that says "You are here, stupid!" everytime I open the map :D Actually deviding it into smaller chunks would've worked, but I'm not complaining.. I think this FM would be confusing regardless if I knew which way was north, it's just part of the mystique :thumb: But back to those hints, anyone (Nightwalker?) I just want a very vague hint or two, no answers! I hate when I can't find out things by myself and the supposed 'hints' aren't really hints at all (stealing the sense of achievement away from me! :tsktsk:)
Cheers,
deadman.

The Ruby:
is in the tree tops. Goto the TreeCity with the dock, water and Dragonflies. The tree at the dock has a ladder leading up from the second floor room...
Well, the auto map had started as one page and the Beta testers talked me into expanding it. Now its four pages :) That took probaby 8 hours to do so you can see why it didn't get bigger.

I understand completely.. From what I've read about making those confounded things, the process is very long and diluted.. But it was sure worth it in the OMs (which I still managed to get myself lost in)! Maybe next time when you build a much smaller simpler level, eh? But then again, if it would be so small and simple maybe even
I could finish it without an automap *g*
Cheers and thanks again for one of the greatest missions (FM or OM) ever :thumb:

Even with 114 posts on Left for Dead. I can't find the pagan to make him pay for burying me alive. I am playing on the hardest difficulty. Go ahead, I know you want to say it - STUPID TAFFER. :p Feel better? Good, now give a an idea where to find this guy, so I can lay this fm to rest. (pun intended)

as in where you go with it or where it was found, I have checked both areas and nada. Maybe I already ko'd him, but I don't think so. How about another hint. please..
on the weird note - anyone notice there's two guys named Keeper Strauss in this one?:weird:
In the library, there were 2 people walking a patrol on the 1st floor..
Garrett "should" have said something tho the effect of "there he is" when you saw the person you are looking for.
Otherwise, it is the MALE of the two..
Make sense now?
The objective should be enough to tell you what to do once you have him.;)
Sap'em on 31/3/2003 at 00:58
err, I think we are talking about two different obj. here. Keeper Thomas is responsible for ordering Garret's death, not actually burying him. I am looking for the dark skinned pagan. BTW Thanks for helping. :D

I'm enjoying this mission a lot!
The fingerbone-lockpicks are awsome!
Also like the different kind of doors.
There 're so many different characters around and it really triggers your mind to remember all different areas you explore ............... You'll have to take all those other directions too of course, so this is pretty tough.
I'm playing on hard. I just have to find the third gemstone and the thinny pagan to finish this game.
The treebeasts are my favourites. Some will hurt you, some don't.
But when a treebeast is following you, you'd better run for it and hide.
This noise behind me really freaks me out, everytime again. It's bonechilling, like playing in a horrormovie.
So ............. thank you for the game Schwaa and helpers.
Reading about Nightwalkers support ...... again ...............
Don't know all the others, but do know Nightwalker. So: special thanks, also to you, Nightwalker. Hope you'll help me also, when I'll try to make a FM.
Keep up the good work Schwaa ............. you've made a lot of us taffers very happy!!!:D
