This is definitely a great one.
I couldn't "catch the Trixter" or do much to him (not for lack of trying!). The only thing that seemed to work on him was gas arrows, which had the normal effect.

This FM could really use a walkthrough even though it is very non-linear. A lootlist would be nice as well, though difficult without including pictures. Are either of these available?
Nightwalker on 17/6/2005 at 15:54
I have a walkthrough for Normal but it's never been edited so it's a bit rough. If you would like a copy, email me and I'll send it to you. I also have a copy of a loot list for Expert, created by smithpd. I have no idea why it never got posted on Cheap Missions but I could also send you a copy of that, if you'd like.

I sent you e-mail nightwalker, and thanks for the help. Maybe it'll answer this question - Apparently I need to read three books to tick off the first objective. I've been running around re-reading everything I find, and still it won't tick off. So I'm missing a book to read. Does anyone know where each book is?
Nightwalker on 18/6/2005 at 13:10
Do you mean the "Somebody killed you so find out who it was and kill them back" objective? If so, then you don't need to read 3 books, only one, but I think you can find at least 2 different things that should tick this objective off. One is a book on a table in the Keeper Compound and the other is tucked down behind a bed in the room where you find the hidden entrance to the Keeper Library area. I believe there was a bug that prevented this from checking off properly for some people. It's possible you've hit that. I don't recall if Schwaa ever figured out exactly why it wouldn't work for some people or not.
I haven't gotten your email yet. Maybe you should try sending it again or PM me your email address.

WOW fantasic mission so far :thumb: . But I'm stuck
I gave the dragon fly
to the hermit and he started making a potion. Afterwards he placed it on the ground.
I'm unable to use or pick it up. I've read through the instruction scroll in his hut. What to do:confused:
Also, it seems I encountered the first-objective-doesnt-checks-off-bug as well :( I've read both books (the one behind the bed and the other on the table in the small dining room) and got the next two objectives but the first one remains active. I forgot the read the next pages of the book on the table the fist time, so maybe thats what causing the bug.
Nightwalker on 11/11/2005 at 20:35
If you've encountered the bug that prevents some of the objectives from ticking off, then the mission won't end properly. Once the hermit has done his thing with the potion, the mission ends when you try to pick it up so you're basically done. If you want to see the stats page, just use "Ctrl+Alt+Shift+End" to complete the mission.

Hmmm, I wonder when that bug cropped up. It doesn't seem like too many people have had the prob.
I can't remember, it's been quite a long time, but the potion might only be Frobable if all objectives are complete?

Yes most likely :erg:. Like Nightwalker said, as long as the first objectives isn't checked off I can't end the mission by picking up the potion :nono:
The only thing I can do is using Ctrl-alt-shift-end to complete the mission. Thanks for that Nightwalker. I've heard of a way to end the mission like this, but never knew what to do exactly. Anyway, mission FINISHED ;)
Apart of that bug (and a few others not worth mentioning) this is one of the best fanmissions I've ever played. I can't believe I never finished it before..now I know what a great experience I missed.
The start of the mission is already most promising. The briefing-movie (although not high quality) is very well done. It's a pity that so few fanmissions include one. When the in-game movie starts you're immersed and you know that this is something special.
The swamp is truly amazing. Beautifully constructed and a joy to explore. Pagans, apes, zombies, thieves, keepers, a droid, tree beasts :ebil: many different enemies are present, including some new ones as well.
The bonus objectives, secrets and hidden equipment scattered throughout the mission are really worth finding and they kept me exploring the beautiful environments a lot longer.
Locating the
Trickster's Gems and use them to travel through the level
really came in handy :)
Also this mission has one of the most original concepts I've ever seen (using Garrett's skull as scouting orb is hilarious :joke: )
Great story, good gameplay...
Schwaa, the only thing that keeps me from awarding your mission a 10 is the bug that made it impossible for me to finish it the proper way. But I think you will be happy with a 9.5 as well :cheeky: I will add your mission to my Recommended Fanmissions List for Thief 2 soon. I'll award Left for Dead as Best Swamp FM, but more awards may follow (depending of the next mission's i'm gonna play).
Thanks a lot. I will follow the progress of the your next fanmission with great interest.
PS: I'm very glad to have fog back on my computer, I wouldn't want to play this mission without it. It adds just so much to the atmosphere.

Thanks Phantom:D Glad you enjoyed it.
I guess since that bug detracts from its overall score i might have to fix it:eww: :laff: , I honestly haven't heard of it and thought all the major bugs were worked out in testing. It might not be something that happens all the time?
Anyway, I know it was kindof a sketchy conversation with the Pagan guy anyway, I didn't have any scripting help on this one so when I got it to work at least that good I was happy. Who knows, MAYBE a future update could include getting your skin back?
thanks for the comment on the briefing too, never heard too much about it. The program I used is great, but taking as many screens as I could in Thief and setting them up as frames for animation isn't the best way to go, maybe next time i'll try catching action with the vid cam.
Anyway, thanks again for playing
