At long last I'm able to play this one if I shut everything else down. I gather there are
new objectives as I go along. Peeking at the walkthrough I see I'm supposed to get a new one with the note about a potion in the pagan hut.
Didn't happen so was wondering if there's anything I can do to trigger it?

nickie,
Sorry that i probably don't have the exact answer, it's been quite awhile since I've looked into this mission again. This is the very last goal you have to complete, I believe I set it up so you can't get the potion intul all required objectives are done.
There are several new/optional objectives that come up that don't have to be done, but if you haven't completed the non-optional ones, you'll need to finish them first.

Thanks Schwaa2 - it's the objective I'm not getting rather than it not ticking off but I won't worry about it - just carry on enjoying it. It's brilliant. I thought it might be that I had a bug which prevented me from getting any new objectives, but others are appearing so no worries.

Someone may already have pointed this out, but on the walkthrough there's a slight 'mistake'.
In the Keeper Library when you find the secret area behind the bookcase, the walkthrough says the gas trap can't be avoided. But the gas trap is a gas mine that has just been hidden around the corner which can be disarmed with lockpicks
I recently replayed this and i did some things in a different order from the walkthough so some of the objectives haven't appeared, anyone else suffer the same problem? :erg:

I hadn't noticed that before. Thanks for pointing it out, though I don't know if I'll bother to rewrite the walkthrough or not, as it's not a huge issue. As for objectives not triggering if you don't do things in the proper order, I really can't say. It's been far too long since I played it to recall whether that happened to anyone though the only bug I DO recall is that sometimes the top objective won't check off so the mission can't be finished properly. It only happens rarely, thankfully.

Yep, took me a few tries to hide it but still be able to pick it. :ebil:
Guess I should've put a note somewhere.
Anyway, I think I might now know why there's is that objective bug.
I've always used TimedTrapRelay script which is in most versions of T2, not sure what the deal is but some versions or patches didn't have it, maybe unpatched T2 doesn't. Anyway 1.18 is what I have and I've never had that problem.
But I've noticed that there is another timing script used in miss16.osm that is supposed to be all inclusive.
I started using a timed relay on all my book/objective QVARS so the objective triggers after you put the book down instead of at the exact moment you open the book. Without the timing it's easy to miss the fact that you got a new objective or completed one.
I believe the few people who have found this bug have the version without that script.

Just discovered this mission thanks to a recommendation in another thread. It's rockin'. I was getting a wee bit tired of the same old, same old, but this mission seems kinda freeform. Add to that the most creative premise yet and you have a complete thievery experience. :ebil:

Exploring this mission is great because you do it almost anyway you want to. If you enjoy that, you might want to try ShoreLeave, one of Belboz's Trickster's Gem Mine missions. It's similar in that you can explore freely. There are very few objectives but there are optional quests you can complete if you want to.

Thanks Nightwalker - will do. Unfortunately, the top objective didn't check off for me either, despite frantic reading. It did kinda ruin the fun somewhat as I found all the secrets and was looking forward to a grand finale/victory lap around the study.
If you can remember -
What are you supposed to do with the doll, golden hammer and/or hairbrush?
Nightwalker on 2/8/2006 at 12:14
I can't remember anything to do with the golden hammer unless you're on Expert, in which case you get an objective to put it with the things the Hammers (I think) are picking up
As for the other items you return the hairbrush to the person it was stolen from and the doll you return to the little pagan girl ghost that's in the cave, if you've found her. :)
