My original game disc for Thief II is so worn out I bought a new one and now the new disc won't be recognized. Do I have to re-install Thief II? Seems like a game disc is a game disc and should run as long as the game is already installed. What is the problem here?

Yes, I understand that is the ultimate solution. I was just curious about mixing installation discs with games discs from different packages. Should that make a difference.
