Funny you mention that, because that's what I've already done, but the problem with that method is there is no rope crank or wheel (or whatever that's called, pardon my ignorance), like in my referenced screenshot. As it stands, I have a PlacedRope underneath a wedge for the roof and it's hanging down a shaft, quite like the well from Bafford's. I was just hoping someone might have seen or would be willing to make something more like the referenced screenshot.

Taking your suggestion for the spool part, here's my updated well (Which is WIP, and I also chose your method of roof replacing my wedge one):

Check the well in Drymian Codex, by the forge. I used some gizmo object or other and managed to have it look relatively close to a well winch/rope crank/whatever.

Ravenhook, that looks pretty good! I hadn't thought to use that gizmo you have there (didn't want to call it a lever, even though I'm sure it's under that in the hierarchy)
Nice well texture too, I'm assuming that's one of Vigil's textures? Looks rather familiar.
