although resident evil 4 really changed alot of the elements of gameplay and controls that were a part of the older res evil games, i still really enjoyed it.

Resident Evil 4 would be my choice for game of the year, unless Zelda turns out to even better. If Resident Evil 5 can improve on that, Capcom will ahve a winner on thier hands.

I've never played a survival horror game before, but RE4 got such good reviews I think I'll try it when the price comes down. Though that said from what I've heard the whole series has a really aggravating control scheme; I'm the kind of person who was driven crazy by the fact that you couldn't move and look around at the same time in Metroid Prime, though that's a bigger crime then not being able to strafe as is the case with the RE games.

resident evil 4 completely changed the way survival horror games can be played; now the camera is behind the character and you can move/shoot/look around all at the same time.
i would definetely suggest getting it, especially since the price of gamecubes has dropped :thumb:

RE4 was a bit more of an action game than it was survival horror, but I won't hold that against it since it did it so well.
Plus it has the best chainsaw through the neck sequence....EVER.

Bleh, it's still $40...I'll wait till it drops lower (I'm a cheapskate since I already have games I need to finish). Sounds good though...I should try a classic survival horror title sometime (like the RE remake for gamecube or Silent Hill or something) but yeah it sounds like a lot of em had major control/camera issues.
