Part of the game was already won me over. In the very first cutscene of the Leon campaign:- Leon is trying to "talk down" the zombie president from attacking him and Helena. F*cking hilarious, especially since after so many years of dealing with basic zombies he'd know that they're conscienceless beasts.
What has me raging:- how little the control the player is being given over the PCs at this early point. WTF is shit?

The good:-
* Well that bit that infuriated me before where the playable characters were barely controllable seemed to be limited to the very start of the game, unsurprisingly (or at least I hope so). I can do all of the John Woo diving, rolling, running, walking, crouch evading, etc that I want to now.
* Now that I've gotten used to the nuances of the combat system, it is actually very fun. Definitely a nice iterative evolution of RE4's combat.
The bad:-
* The system for equipping and using non-herb consumables (eg health sprays) and grenades isn't explained that all, I had to Google that shit... so much for the usefulness of that fucking 20 min forced tutorial!
EDIT: The fact that most guns have alternative fire modes or different ammo types wasn't explained either, nor was how to switch between them. I only found out about them purely by accident while try to Google a solution to the aforementioned equipping/using grenades.
* There was an "interactive cutscene" where Leon had to start up and drive a cop car. This sequence seemed riddled with QTEs only for the sake of having them. I'd imagine that I'm going to be in for A LOT more of these "interactive cutscenes", ugh.
* Any of notion of this being a Survival Horror game is complete dead. You don't have to worry about conserving resources at all since the game is constantly giving you ammo pick ups and throwable explosives. Past RE's (prior to RE5 at least) encouraged you to use melee more because of the scarcity of resources, making even games with a greater emphasis on action like RE4 and Dead Space 1 still definable as SurHor.

You couldn't possibly think RE6 has any remnants of survival horror in it after RE5. Dead as a doornail! You're better off playing this without those sorts of expectations, because it's going to disappoint you if you do. It's more of a shooty-bang game than anything else, though there's a certain enemy that's sorta creepy-ish later on.
Also, yes, there's a ginormous amount of QTEs and cutscenes. Sorta like someone had Kojima guest direct, or something.

Several hours in and only just learned NOW that you can sprint by holding down Space bar (I'll probably rebind that to Shift now, as God intended.). Again that 20 min forced tutorial sure was USEFUL!!!!!!111 The game DEFINITELY did a FANTASTIC job of not explaining its mechanics!!!111
