I have a Asus GeForce 2 GTS and when I set the resolution to higher than 1152x864 it reverts back to 800x600 although when I look at the settings in the game it will say 1280x1024. I have a 17" monitor and my desktop as well as other games(including Unreal and UT)run this resolution just fine. I have the current Detonator drivers from nVidia as well as the latest DeusEx patch. I tried copying the D3D files from UT but that didn't work. I really need some help.

Hmm. Sounds strange. Perhaps it's an issue with your monitor.
Why would you want to crank the resolution that high anyway? It runs and operates fine in 1024x768.

My monitor works fine at that resolution in other apps. Also, it's not that I really want to even play at that resolution, but since it doesn't work I MUST FIX IT!

Ah, I can see your point there ;)
Try different color depths? Try different drivers? Hmmm. Don't know what to say, other than that. Deus Ex isn't a very nice game when it comes to trying to customize the way the graphics look. It's all very set in its ways and it tends to be a hokey bitch when you change it :P If someone has a solution, it would be greatly appreciated.
Actually, when I get a chance I'll try this out myself. I have a GTS card too.

I agree, I think its a monitor issue.I dont know about a GTS but I have a GeForce2 MX. If you have Detonator 6.5 or newer drivers it automatically thinks you have the Twin View enabled. This game doesnt support OpenGL mode but with the single player patch from (
http://www.eidosinteractive.com) www.eidosinteractive.com I can play in that mode.If you havent played DE in OpenGL you dont know what your missing.LOL

I always thought that was weird as well, but if you compare 1280x1024 to 1152x864 you'll notice a difference not only in the HUD size, but in the actual size of what you see. From the smallest up to 1152x864, when you boost the resolution, everything gets smaller, with more stuff on the screen. At 1280x1024 though, everything is big again, with less on the screen, but with much better defination and detail.
Personally, I'd prefer it at 1152x864 because of the size of everything, not just the HUD (I run it at 1024x768 though, 'cause that's all my comp can handle).Check between 800x600 and 1280x1024 (or 640x480, which is closer to half the larger one). Your actual view might be the same size, but the defination will be far, far greater. Twice as crisp and clean infact
Resolution doesn't necessarily refer to the size of your view, it refers to the amount of pixels your view is made up of.
I don't know why they did that with 1280x1024, it does seem very odd. It's the only game I've seen that does that.

Are you *sure* it's not actually 1280 x 1024? Take a moment to double check. There's something funny with the HUD above 1024x768. It gets really freakin' big -- perhaps this is making you think that it's in a lower resolution? I swear, the HUD at 1280 x 1024 makes it look life you're playing at a much lower resolution.
I have a GeForce 2 myself and had to go down to 1024x768 to get the HUD to be an acceptable size.
This may not be what's happening with you, but it's worth taking a moment to confirm.

It isn't a monitor problem. My monitor has no problem displaying that resolution on the desktop or in other games even using the same engine like Unreal and UT. You're right about the reason I thought it was displaying @ 800x600. The HUD grew. But the ESC menu also grew, as well as the opening screen. Also, the detail doesn't seem to be better than 1024x768 it seems worse. It doesn't make sense to me that the program would display everything larger and in rougher detail(i.e. HUD, ESC menu,...) except for the actual game world. That seems to go against everything I know about programming, which I'll admit isn't much, but it still doesn't make sense.

Agreed. I myself just "make do" with 1024x768, where the HUD is a decent size.
It's not so bad once you get used to it...
