I'm actually going to go orc this time. They have a sweet berserk ability that could come in handy if this game is at all hard.

Duh, go with pure spellcasters! I bet the spell effects will be a decent eye candy. Plus they usually have it easier in the later parts of any RPG.

Pure spellcasters were arguably the worst class in Morrowind. They competed with thieves for being highly inneffective and easily replaced by gadgets.

i'm playing a battlemage in oblivion and enjoying her. but i'ma restarting as a witch because magic is so effective.

Do not make any decisions yet. Tuco shall be reborn again soon, and the climactic birth shall shake the very foundations of Oblivions combat. Based on what I choose for Tuco, we shall see a very different combat system instantaneously amongst all copies of oblivion.
I can say this, whichever way kicks the most ass, shall be what I choose, and shall therefore be the most effective way.
