After being bombarded with emails, some of which were heartfelt, some of which were from people we all, respect and admire in the community.... I shall belay my abscondment.
Lastly everyone that replied to this thread and the other, and those who emailed me - you have my warmest heartfelt thanks. I will be keeping my games, but will be donating my spare copy of Thief Gold to the prize cache for the Classic contest as I originally intended to do.
Apologies to those who I had initially promised the games to

No, but can I have your user account after you leave please?

@Bikerdude
Are you quitting Thief?
or just being generous with extra copies?
Edit:
Read the other post. Come on man, this is too much. Don't make me post a thread asking how many people on here would hate to see you go.

Hey dude, I feel for you. But maybe just take a week off for now, then decide :)
Jashin on 1/10/2008 at 02:48
Dude, quit feeling sorry for yourself. People obvious appreciate the help you give 'em. You're appreciated dude :thumb:
Me, I wouldn't want to be mod to be honest. So hold on to your games.
demagogue on 1/10/2008 at 04:35
You're going to need those games as new FMs come out.
You know the first rule of computer mediated communication is that, without real-life cues, people take posts about themselves as personal affronts, when they weren't written that way, and their emotions kick in way more than they would IRL. It happens to everybody, which is why it's the first rule of CMC you learn in a communications course on it.
Like the other guys, my advice is to take some time off, feed some ducks, cycle around town ... and let things cool down and get into perspective. Anybody that's spent time around here knows what you've contributed to the community. You're hardly a nobody. So don't let emotion get the better of you. Keep your games; take some time off; and try not to let things get to you... :)

Sorry I have to chime in here.
If it was not for you @Biker I would never have been able to play
Thief again and fan missions after getting Vista! I was going crazy it would not work. Many messages back and forth with help, you to get it to run and work.
Appreciate so much the help, more than you know. :)

Well, well, Bikerdude.
This is Goldmoon now, and I got the sense that something was up when I read your thread about the wiki. I think I speak for many of us when I say that we didn't realise you were heading this way. Your input in ThiefGen has always been cut and dried, right to the point. Much like now. I totally understand why you feel this way. Remember though, once a Taffer always a Taffer. This place is like a Buccaneer's Den of sorts. A varied selection of wayward souls coming and going. You may leave now, but know that the door of return is always open...
Until then.
:ebil:
wait a minute.... is Bikerdude leaving? :cheeky: this is the first Ive heard
pavlovscat on 1/10/2008 at 21:35
If those games go anywhere, you better send them to me for safe keeping! That way I can send them right back to you when you are ready to play again. ;)
You know you can't stay away forever...people need your help around here.

If interested drop me an email -
otherwise they go in the bin
Care to enlight what happened to you?
KEEP THEM.
PS: Read the other thread. Man, you are only partly righteous there. Dave just cited general politics of the boards concerning mods in response to the topic starter and you somehow thought if was affront to you. The fact no one sticked posts or threads as you asked just means the mods were busy and/or didn't see your request.
