Neil, did you stumble upon those guys in RTC?

Karras, after he has lost his life in rust gases. As you can see, Karras - high priest of the mechanists - was a
mechanical nightmare himself. However, the mechanists could not develop a real artificial intelligence yet in the past, so they had to rely on organic brains which were connected to a steam-driven robot. Karras' brain has been zombified at the end of Thief 2.

The blocking of the doors had very little impact on the suspense - it just made the tasks for Murus even more tedious because I knew I could leave at any time.
You know what's really tedious? People who use exploits and then complain that it makes a game less fun. :tsktsk:

While playing the Return to The Cathedral the other day I was actually suprised to see that I could kill Hammer apparitions with my sword. I was dissapointed beause it slightly took the difficulty away from that mission :(

Remember? Constantine told you it would be handy. The haunts and spectres can be wiped out easily with a "backstab" attack on one swing. A frontal attack takes three or four. :)

Constantine's sword is handy because it doesn't make you more visible when unsheathed. Against undead it's exactly as effective as the regular sword.

Just inch your way through in the shadows. You should be able to get through and snatch the eye without killing a single haunt or Zombie.
If you wait, watch and listen, you should be able to avoid all of them including the mob in the cellars. There are more than enough shadows to hide in. :)
A "Conan the Barbarian" approach doesn't really work all that well. ;)
Very true. I was Conan the first time I played it, as I was new to the game and just killed whatever was in my path. Plus, roasting zombies is fun!
I can't see how it's possible to steal the eye without being seen. A moss arrow on the hammer probably helps, as
I think jumping on it wakes up the sleeping zombies and alerts the haunts
. So jump there when
the nearest haunt is turned away?
Again, what a bloody brilliantly designed and executed mission!
Edit: I can see how killing the haunts would eliminate much suspense; I played it on Hard, so I didn't have the extra "Kill the Haunts" task. I would have given up, as I never confront them head on, and if I do, always wear my ass for a hat.

Throwing hammer, what throwing hammer?

Once upon a time, long ago, Sneak figured out how to do it. It involves two well placed rope arrows and a shadowy corner.

Actually, you don't need to jump on the hammer at all. Just creep to the very edge and lean forward. Nobody will see you at all.
That's funny, I never even thought of jumping on the hammer. I always lean and grab.
