Returning to Thief... - by Keeper Jonas

Now and then, for various reasons, it sometimes happens that I loose the ability to play the Thief trilogy for long periods of time. I'll spare the details, needless to say these these blackouts result in my not posting here. It's errie but I lost the ability to play any computer games at all the very night of my last post, I had a power supply fry my hard drive.
That was exactly five months ago...
So I have everything up and running. Gonna start playing the trilogy again. I figure that I'll run through all three games on expert as is my norm, I'll do some FM's...etc...etc...
I know I want to play the game and I am not bored of it. What I'm asking is, how have the standards increased while I've been away, are there new stunt or feat categories to take on? Just asking people for individual suggestions via this thread is ultimately more precise than sifting threads, my geek count is not unlimited.
I am asking this question because:
-Dream up the most...dumb ghosting situation with even dumber rules, I'll give it a shot.
-I've killed entire levels worth of enemies in TDP and TMA on Expert without suffering one hit.
-I've fought three hour [real time] street battles with the city watch before they finally manage to do me in.
-Is any of this a reflection of my average discipline of game play and skill level? Absolutely not.
-What types of innovation has occured here in terms of formulating game playing parameters?
I wouldn't be asking this question if I didn't think my own ideas were quite lame but to show all y'all that I invested an effort in that before coming here...
-The irregularities in the performance and stability of the DS graphics engine have already demonstrated that they provide a large range of possibilities for exploits and stunts. I'd just like to be able to make use of these exploits more methodically. Case in point? The elevator to the Crypt of Fort Ironwood. Get the Haunts and Hammerites in there with you and some freaky stuff can happen.
-I guess I have never gone through a whole thief game without ever causing even one guard to wonder if something was up...but it isn't that interesting, considering all the other ghosting I've already done successfully.
-Any suggestions?

Have you found the bow upgrade in TDP?

Okay that made me laugh out loud but it seriously should not have.
*edit* I scrolled back up to read the first post and answer it, and I laughed again on the way up. What the hell??? It doesn't even make sense - in the context of the thread, or even at all.

I wish I looked like the last guy all the time...
As to the bow upgrade...I guess it isn't acceptable to be a geek in a
sub-forum specifically designated for a game series that was started in 1998...

I'm not sure what you mean or if it even makes sense.
Are you saying that if you have the bow upgrade, then you can be a geek in the forum, or that you can't?
btw - I come back to the game all the damn time, I think this is about the 5th time i've come running back looking all sheepish, holding flowers and saying sorry like.

-Your first sentence is a testament to the fact that I never quite learned proper english grammar in high school. I got a C cause the teacher was not very tightly wrapped. meh...
-As to your question, my statement doesn't make any sense. I would not worry about it too much. I was only attempting to give a half-aborted answer to a jab and even if I had proper grammar training and a better ability to organize my thoughts with words [:cheeky: ] , meh...I used to be more fun to get a rise out of.
Now it's like summoning a woody and getting paper mache. :(
Oh well, nature takes its course. :D
Which inevitably leads us all down the same agonizing path to the unfathomable void of non-existence.:(
But it tends to be over very quickly once you finally get to the process of dying. :D
Getting to that process ususally involves months of living in nursing homes and hospitals, suicide being your one short cut since the odds of getting murdered are somewhat variable even in the worst places and once the process of dying is complete it can't be reversed. :( [that's bad].
Anyways, to attempt to make this thread Thief-relevant again:
Allow me first address your btw - and then attempt to restate my initial post.
-It seems you seem to have had an experience somewhat like what I was attempting to describe. It seems I am not alone. Your response actually works to satisfy my initial reason for posting this thread. Thank you. :D
Restatement of my initial post: I have not been playing any Thief games for a very long time and have been experiencing an odd sense of having done everything multiple times before since I've started playing again. The sensation won't go away.
This is not even a bad thing, I'm just looking to spice things up a bit. I was gonna buy Viktoria and Garrett a
16-gauge steel chain link leash, an O-ring collar and a dog bowl....
But I figured I'd stop by and ask all my ttlg buddies if they had any ideas first. Yes? No? Maybe so?

Have you tried playing it on normal?
Have you tried just playing the game through again for the story line/fun... with the lights off/with head phones on? Have you tried those hard core skill scripts that were kicking around, or the anti-cheat codes in thief 2?
