Well, looks like it's happening. Good reports about the docs and care there. I actually got to talk to a fellow HCM patient who is in the hospital as we speak waiting for a heart, and he raved about the place. Our landlord is letting us out of our lease early here, and Christie has her pick of several different jobs and can get them on a 30 day notice. All we're waiting for is the landlord here to find new renters - we figured the least we could do for the guy is stay until he does, he's the best landlord we've ever had.
The whole thing is exhausting to think about, but we also have some contentment knowing we're headed somewhere with lots of friends and the ability to live nearly next door to the transplant center. And we're quite enamored with both the weather and landscape of Pennsylvania. Time to start boxing things up yet again. It actually does feel like we're going home in a way, especially since we haven't had much inclination to settle in here in Springfield, MA. Our short time (6 mos.) in PA two years ago was filled with farmer's markets, community theater, beautiful parks, incredible food, small quaint towns, mom and pop coffee and ice cream shops, and milk, butter, and yogurt fresh from the nearby dairy and creamery. It is slow paced there, which will be nice after the headlong rush of the last 2.5 years. I feel good about it, just tired. Thanks for letting me whine, gang. Just knowing you guys are here to listen means more than you know.

Hope it works out well for you.

Hershey Medical Center is fucking amazing and living in the area/being attended to by their staff is a huge opportunity. Silver linings, and all that, but you'll be in the care of the best in the industry, imho.
Dethy, Fett lived in the south. I grew up in about as rural an area as possible, and PA at its worse is nothing like rural Georgia/Alabama/Mississippi/etc. As a bonus, if he feels like being shot by (insert ethnic sterotype of choice) he'll be close to Harrisburg.

Yeah, there's a reason we got rid of him as soon as he became a celebrity nutjob. Actually, before that IIRC. Up until his presidential bid, he was just another R on the ballot for people to vote for.

Well, to be fair there are a fair number of people in this state who were actively enthusiastic about Santorum, and who became more so after he became a nutjob.
We're also the proud Alma Matter of Arlen Spector and Tom Ridge. Sure we got Ben Franklin too, but he can only make up for so much.

Dude, you can whine here any time. What you're going through is probably unimaginable for most of us and the fact that you have the energy to whine is a good thing!
I'm looking forward to the "I gots my new heart" thread! :D

As someone who has most recently lived in Philadelphia, I can safely say that it's not all bad in PA.
Wishing you the best of luck.
