It's 3:30pm GMT and sunny as hell... I really want to play this, but I'm going to leave it till tonight. Correct atmosphere, etc.
All I can say so far is...
SWALLOW THIS! :ebil:
(I really really hope Raimi or his agent doesn't come down on Trout for the samples etc, the Dark Engine is an ideal way to replicate this film...)

Downloaded the game again. Got the effects and things that I couldn't before. However frame rate is still very slow and jerky in places. I'll do the same as smithpd and wait and see if there is any other fixes that be made. It happens as you enter the house/cabin.

I have to say that I really, really want to play this as its such a refreshing change to see a mission like this (and such a great tribute to the 'dead' films).
Unfortunatley, as other pople have stated, the framerate drops right down as the cabin is approached. Inside the cabin its really bad (very like The Tricksters Castle FM at the start - the only other FM to ever give me problems).
Troutpack, I hope you have a sudden brainwave and find a fix for this because this mission obviously had a great deal of time and effort expended on it.

I suggest that you hang out at the editor's forum, if you have not only done so, learn about all the possibilities for this type of thing, and maybe even have someone else take a look at it. This FM is too good to just leave it as is.

Very well made FM, although I have encountered the framerate bug as well.
Need help:
Where to find page 1 and 2?
And also, the link Troutpack gave for gaylesavers scripts, the version in that link the script.osm filesize is 152kB. However I've downloaded it from here:
(
http://www.thiefmissions.com/scripts/) and in this version the script.osm is 176kB. I assume that you have to use the larger file, bugfixed file?
Edit: Also noticed that darkhooks.dlx file is larger in the later version..

I'll try. One problem I have is that in Dromed all missions have gotten really slow after I updated my ATI drivers, and so I can't really tell the real slow downs from the Dromed slow downs. I have to check it through Darkloader, which takes time.
So if I were to find a magic bullet in Dromed to cure the slow downs, I probably wouldn't notice. :(

The later is probably better, yeah. I just don't remember where I got mine, so I reference the ones at Dromed central.

I can confirm that the older versions didn't work properly:
The face in the bedroom never appeared
Replayed the whole thing (to get rid of low framerate) and beat it. Many "wow, I didn't know the Dark engine could do this moments" :thumb:

Glad to hear it. :)

I downloaded the second version and my scripts are all the latest versions , however the mission still drags and there is still no vision in the bedroom or key in the bathroom .
What I don't understand is why are missions being beta tested , then released broken ? Either something is finished or it is a public beta . This is the third mission I've played with a major framerate problem . When something looks this good , and players have to give-up half way through maybe they start to think this isn't much fun anymore .
