Three little threads started, all merged.... Three roads to our little memorial service.

I liked D&D, played for a couple years with a group and had some good times. It really offers something you just can't get with any CRPG. The narrative and slower paced action is more like participating in a good book. And the special brand of comraderie and banter is something only a nerd can appreciate.
Goodbye Gary, we'll miss you :)

Ah, those were the days. Video arcades, playing RISK, etc.
I and several buddies started the first D&D club in our high school way back when in the '70s.
We'll miss you GG. Thanks for helping stoke our imaginations.
same here, though it was the early/mid '80's. Oh what a great time that was.

SSI's Pool of Radiance remains, to this day, the only game that became a
complete obsession. Thief is close, but I know when I'm playing too much.
- eep!

I have collected almost every vintage D&D and AD&D module, rule book and boxed set in mint/near mint condition over the years as a hobby/investment. I enjoyed reading the stuff even more than playing the game. My collection is now worth around 4X what I originally spent collecting it all, and I could never bring myself to sell any of it. So now I have a reason to build that perfect Geek Shrine I always wanted but could never go through with!
Here is the quintessential link for any hardcore collector or those just curious to see every single released D&D item with picture and value.

And I wouldn't worry about Gary. I have no doubt he was wearing his Amulet Of Life Protection and his wife no doubt has a Rod Of Ressurrection close at hand. ;)
