I'm a bit stuck in the Harbour town right now - there doesn't seem to be a way out unless I join one of the factions. And I don't want to just yet. Any ideas on how to get out?
you have to find a secret passage out of the city - just speak to everybody
and if you are lost:...........................................................................
it's in the bordell

Well if ya got a levitation scroll left you could maybe just hover down from the wall near the main gate. Maybe its possible to jump, never tried.
Any other way, wont get out until you join (that is do favors enough until youre able to meet the head honchos) one faction since one way out requires being allowed to leave and the other a key held by someone and taking that by force (if at all possible) is prolly trouble. But Risen is pretty open ended, so try :p

you can always pickpocket the key if you have enough talents as well, but I got out through the secret tunnel

As for the 360 vs. PC debate: I have no problem playing a game with decreased distance draw, lower res. textures, etc. I just don't want the content to be gimped. I mean, I can still play the original Gothic and be immersed entirely. Graphics mean little to me in a game like this, the world is #1.
For me, it's half and half. A game doesn't have to have top of the line shader ladden graphics to look good. It's all about art and design first and foremost, two things that can make a game with great gameplay even more memorable. But when you take a game designed from inception to look a certain way, then strip it of graphical touches to make it run on lesser hardware, it loses some of it's charm along the way. Specially when it's you consider how many cuts had to be made to get it to run on the 360.
Unless you have an old, old machine from way back in the day, I'd try for the PC version first. Even with a mix of low and medium settings, it'll still look and play better than the 360 version. If you have no other choice though...well hey, it's still a good game.

Bah. Why did my computer have to wait until NOW to start showing its age?
At least it was just the demo, and not after buying the full game.

why fuck consoles ? fuck bad console coders or companies not giving a rats ass about it. I'm glad I can run the game on PC with maximum settings with 30-40fps but this looks really bad. I'm sure it could have been made much better than this.
