Oh come on. You could come up with
any game and you would see tons of bug reports. That proves nothing.
ME was perfectly playable at release. I could finish it without any hitches whatsoever. The same can't be said about the crapfest that Piranha Bytes gave us.

It's from the Gothic 1 and 2/Night of Raven dudes too, and if you haven't played those games you missed a lot. It's ten times better that Elder Scroll series for me.
Risen will have MUCH smaller world compared with G3, closer to G1 size, so they return to old quality with Risen. It was they greatest fault that they took Elder Scrolls' road with G3 (huge world with lots of copy-paste, instead of relatively small but hand-made and detailed world without repeating locations) and they themselves acknowledged it was they fault.

I played both G1 and G2, liked them, but that's like...10 years ago? I have different standards for today, so some halfassed Gothic clone won't cut it for me anymore.

Is there something better in this genre? Also, how do you know it's halfassed?

Well, I put high hopes into Alpha Protocol. Different developer, different setting, and with Chris Avellone at the helm of the project, hopefully better roleplaying as well.
I watched tons of Risen preview videos that showed tons of bugs and completely reminded me of Gothic.

To be honest if Risen will have less bugs than Failout 3 it will definitely be worth playing as well as I'm concerned. I would be fun to see a Gothic 1 style game done in our times.
