Thanks for that. Simply renaming the exe to vanguard.exe did the trick for me, I didn't need nhancer.

I just got through reading a couple of reviews, and one thing I've noticed among all the reviews is how whatever guy or gal or shemale doing the job mentions how grim, dark, gritty, and totally blood dripping off baby skulls the game is. It's anything but. I mean sure, some bad things happen, and a couple of characters do say fuck a couple of times (they're pirates, who I expect would say fuck and shit and damn alot), but it ain't exactly like watching a Cradle of Filth video while slashing your wrists or anything.
So why does everything have to be either grimdark-as-fuuuhhhk or Nintendo kitty nowadays. It's like reviewers don't have any room for the inbetweens here, just one extreme or the other.

I was pretty "ueber" at the end of chapter1 and now helping the inquisitor decided to revisit the places that were just too dangerous for me.......well, who would have known, they are now crawling with new monsters, all much, much harder than before. Which is good, I'm now back to my old shenanigans, climbing ledges so monsters can't hit me. Damn, I hate those elitewarriors with their one-hit kills. or the swarms of ghouls with their unblockable rage attacks. it's not easy being green...aehm, I mean being a magician (or what I like to call me: Grandmaster Toni, also known as TheWarriorMonk (TM) ).
biggest gripe I have sofar with the story/characterization is that each and every woman you meet is basically a whore, slave, working wife or pretty damn stupid. If not (e.g. Patty) she dresses like there exists no body armor for the other sex. Damn those sexist germans, well, this is basically the only thing sofar that taints my happy picture of Risen, other than that I'm laughing along with my character when he starts making fun of ppl, sometimes it's comedy gold.
PS: Renzatic, yeah, fireball is pretty awesome, I think I will take fireball/freeze asfar as I can

I've just been powering up Freeze so far, with plans on powering up fire later. I didn't have a whole bunch of experience stored up like you did, so I have to take things as I can get em.
And have you met Dork yet? I tell you, that has to be the most unfortunate typo I've seen in a game in my entire life.

I don't suppose anyone's finished chapter 4 yet? I'm utterly stumped.
I'm collecting the armour of Ursegor, currently in the western most sunken temple thingy (Behind the waterfall) and I'm in a room filed with lava with a raised drawbridge on the opposite side that I can't find a way to lower. I can't levitate as the room is an anti-magic area and I can't find any switches or levers to pull. All I can see are some cryatals that are 'radiating some sort of strange force'.
:edit:
Nevermind, figured it out.

I'm at the end of chapter3, and it's batshit insane. I'm so glad I have 13 skeleton spells and I have 100% on fireball. I don't even use any shield. believe me, this game rewards specialization, just never ever try to do a "balanced" character. I left the stupid inquisitor minions behind me and just cleared out everything myself: mighty XP, batman !!!! Magician seems like a cheat sofar (or easy way out) since Fred (my undead friend) does the distraction and me does the party healing and fireball throwing: volá. but all of this means that I have only medium strength and I can still only carry one of the smaller fighting sticks (not that I needed it).
I also like how the story turned out with nobody being a real asshole or flawless hero
can anyone tell me what freeze/magic missle does ?
I only developed fire to full, does freeze do damage as well or...well, only freeze ? and what does magic missle ? is it like fireball with splash damage ?
anyways, awesome game sofar, combat is satisfying and I'm already taking notes and planning my 2nd runthrough as mighty bonecrushing warrior hunter.

Can't say about Magic Missle, but Freeze um... 'Freezes' enemies. Higher skill means longer freeze duration, faster projectiles and more damage done. Hitting a frozen enemy will break the spell.

Damn, you're both rolling ahead of me. I haven't had much time to play it these last couple, so I'm just now starting chapter 3. I've got 5 points in my staff skills (screw you crazy druid guy, I ain't giving your Skeletor stick back), 4 in Freeze, and a damn ton of self scribed scrolls...including Fred, which I haven't fired off yet.
Also, be glad you skipped Magic Bullet. Fireball is good for doling out tons of damage, and freeze is good if you like taking a more controlled approach to your fights. But Magic Bullet? Well...it's good if you like to shoot off little streaky lights like a semi-auto, but it does so little damage, you'll eat up almost all of your mana before you even do the equivalent of few freezes. Not worth it at all in my opinion.

i just finished it as a mage. hot-damn. last fights were hillarious. Fred is my best friend, he saved my skin so many times, I am forever in his debt (fred is the name of the skeleton in the german version). Last 2 fights were a breeze since you are so buffed and armored, I had my fun with arrogant Mendoza and the endboss was pretty easy, didn't take any damage, it was the typical "learn the traps/attack pattern" stuff of arcade style. I would have hoped for a more engaging fight but, well, pretty much everything in the last chapter was a small battle in itself so I won't complain. Off to start my next run as a swordsman/smith/alchemist and will leave the whole cheating magic out, we'll see how I do, I assume it's much harder that way. btw, I like how they avoided the whole "you must rescue the galaxy/world/island" and still give you sidequests since the way to the endboss is blocked and you have to chip it free piece by piece. so it ain't odd if you help xyz with his wolfproblem while the world is burning (what MassEffect failed to address)
steam says: playtime 67hours.....which I did not notice :D
Renzatic: do use Fred often, he is the shit, btw a bug I found: if Fred is down in health, quicksave/quickload and volá: full health, I abused it when I had no magic healing left. A few of the other advanced spells later in the game are also amazing, you can turn into the Ashbeast?(aschemonster in german) and go to town, what I did. in harbortown. ok, I reloaded afterwards since I don't condone genozide, only chickenmurder.
PS: I'm sorry to say, the english version is not up to the german one. just switched languages and couldn't stand it. original ftw (if you know the language)

For some reason Mendoza was pretty difficult for me, despite my Sauron armor and whatnot he could kill me in like 3 hits had to dodge like crazy. Kinda funny that a dude is stronger than a goddamn Titan because that one just nicked me gently with his lasers, made it the first time
