Yes, I know about that, it was like that in Gothic 2. And I believe that crossbows, even that they need strength to wield, still take dexterity into account when calculating damage.
EDIT: So I've messed around with cheats to give myself skill points in bow and crossbow, and to me it seems that there's no difference between levels 1 and 9 in that skills, the reloading seems to take the same amount of time (I didn't time it with a stopwatch or anything like that, it's just my subjective feeling). Only when I got to level 10 the reloading and aiming did get notably faster.

Oh FFS, the copy that I got off Gamersgate has Tages online activation. I don't know if there's a limit or not and there seems to be no revoke tool. But Steam page lists it as having only 3 activations, so one can assume that it's the same case with the Gamersgate version.
The Gamersgate site lists the game as using SecuROM, not Tages.
Research shows that retail release only has a disc check. So avoid all digital distribution releases of this game.

I can confirm that my retail boxed version did indeed come without any kind of activation system, though it did have a disc check.

i have the steam version and re/installed it at least 4 times. if there are activation limits, they are above 3.

GG guarantee that you'll get more activations if you run out though, and they're in a country where they won't be able to wiggle out of that even if they wanted to. If you are going to buy games with limited activations it's undoubtedly the right place.
Having said that nuTages
is a badly implemented piece of shit that makes SecuRom look like a gift from the gods in comparison.

Patch 1.10 is outA few moments ago, Deep Silver and Piranha Bytes released patch 1.10 for RISEN. The patch fixes some bugs which could still occur in the release version of the game. Since RISEN was released rather bug free, the changelog is not very long:
* Placement of various objects in the world revised
* Collision revised: player could previously get stuck in certain locations
* Problem with Brogar Arena quest resolved: this quest was only offered twice in certain circumstances
* Problem with the camera and the interface after loading a saved game resolved
* Various locations revised where the player was teleported to the first floor upon entering a building
* The hunters are to hunt again: problem with a dialog option that immediately ended this quest resolved
* Problem with the trigger for the final battle resolved
* Golden sword for the Don: this sword could be duplicated by stealing
* Problem with signpost lighting resolved
* Position of various quest goals revised and improved
* Problem of the player not receiving the bastard sword after delivering the materials for it resolved
* Interaction with benches, chairs, etc. revised
* Various dialog options revised
* Various error corrections made in game texts and language files
Please note that this patch is only for the DVD retail version of the game. If you acquired RISEN via Steam or another download portal, please check with that vendor for a patch for your version.
The patch is for the PC version only.(

Some of you FINISHED this game in 20-some-odd hours? WTF. I just now got the Chapter 2 screen @ 31 hours. 3 chapters to go...
Shit is getting good! I like Risen even more than Gothic 1, though Gothic 2 will never be surpassed.
