I heard that happened, but that they replaced her pretty quick. I think it's already been a couple of years now, hasn't it?

They fired Tarja Turnrunrenrunren a couple years ago because she was a horrid diva who kept fucking the band over in favour of her own solo stuff. She wrote this big whiney passive-aggressive open letter and pretty much cemented herself as the worst person in fem-fronted symphonic/goth metal (which is generally a talentless wasteland better known as estrocore) and just generally a failure as a human being. Nightwish's new vocalist is leagues better personality-wise and skill-wise. That doesn't mean I'm going to actually listen to Nightwish, but it's more likely now.

Yes, well, most bands of this sort tend to do this thing where they're like "hey let's put some pretty chick up front so everyone can stare at her and we don't have to put as much effort into playing well because nobody will notice." It's not that I have anything against female singers (Battle of Mice is amazing and emotionally gutwrenching post-metal), but so many bands just use her as a gimmick because she's pretty.
It's why I can't stand most estrocore. Epica is the worst, but I do enjoy After Forever.
