The English voice acting in Gothic 1 is very poor;
The more I play, the more I think the problem is not so much the voices, as the fact that it's clear each line has been recorded out of context, meaning sentences and questions often have the emphasis on the wrong part of the sentence.

Yeah, the inflection is off. But, IMHO, it is a huge part of the game's charm. I would not like G1/2 as much without hilarious voice acting.

Anything I should know before I go any further, like an absolutely essential fan patch or something?
You need the patch 1.08h and thats it i think. Ya could install a texture pack ((

Wow, the hero is even thougher this time. He just stands there, upright and fully metal-covered with a patronizing look for the miserable attemps of the raging thunderstorm to electrocute his nameless ass. Somehow reminds me of Beckham before a free kick....

Hey, he finally shaved off that goofy ass goatee. GOOD JOB!

From the looks of it combat has a lock-on again (and seemingly double tap dodges too!) so bye running around flailing like an ass and hello swordplay again hopefully. Im cautiously optimistic :o

That does look rather promising...
Also looks like they're putting in a far more detailed inventory system which is a nice plus. The Gothic inventories were fairly awful affairs.

That does indeed look promising.
With Starcraft 2 pushed back to 2010, this is indisputably the game I'm most looking forward to in 2009.

SC2 got pushed back too? 'Cuz I was looking forward to Bioshock 2 and that got pushed back, leaving me only with FO3 GOTY and L4D2, only the first of which I'm actually going to bother buying (L4D2 I'm requesting as a birthday gift.)
I find it hilarious how all these games were due this fall, and then suddenly they all get pushed back 'cuz they were all crammed together? Except now they're all crammed into 2010. Smart.
