I found a room in Life of the Party that you can get into, but not out of. Scary. It's just near where the guards have their argument, behind the higher tower. It has two small windows that you can crawl through to get in, but you can't get back out. There's some loot in there, though.
So is it just me that can't get out? Is it because I haven't patched the game yet? Is there a secret way out?

It's the room that is just to the west of the archer tower, right? I don't know if it's affected by the patch (Why haven't you patched your game??) but you can get out, though it's a bit tricky. If you stand on the low platform in front of one of the windows then jump/move forward and immediately crouch, sooner or later you'll manage to get through the window.

Like Nightwalker says. You are in Lady Van Vernon's. You need to run across the room, jump and CROUCH while in the air. You can exit either window. The one to the street, or the one near the archers tower.
It is a tricky little bit to make it though there.
Another one occurs in AMBUSH. Just at the start when you mantle to the garden and enter the building on the right. There is a window there that you can go out to a small ledge/balcony. But that's another that strains your keyboard. You need to "LEAN" and move at the same time. It always makes me work to get through.
Good luck.

Heh, thanks. I figured there was some way to get out, but I gave up first.

Well, I only found out about the patch recently. And the computer I use Thief on hasn't got internet, which makes it a bit of a hassle. And when I finally did patch it, I got the 'cannot find CD' error. Then I installed the 'correct' patch, which fixed that, but it seems like nothing's actually been patched. I might just reinstall it, and see if I can salvage my saves.

Copy your SAVES folder and move it out of THIEF. Re-install, then use the correct patch. When the installation is complete, DELETE the SAVES folder that is in the game files. Then just copy/paste, or move the SAVES folder you copied into the game.
Or open the current SAVES folder, copy all the material someplace else, then when your new game is ready, copy/paste all back into the new folder.

Keep in mind that the saves made with a patched game will only work with a patched game and the saves from when your game was unpatched will only work with an unpatched version. It can be confusing and upsetting when you try to load up a save and the game doesn't find any, even though you know you've put them in.

Thanks for the tips :) Whether or not saves work after patching, I don't really mind - if I have to play through the whole game again, that's not really much of a downside. Except it mkaes me wait longer before I can play T3 :p. On second thoughts, I'll complete the game, then patch it. Then complete it again. Or something.

I frequently make CD's of SAVES folders. That way I can plug in an exact time and place in some of the missions to replay or check some information.
As a Beta tester I often do just that so I have a handful of "problem" areas available to "Plug-in" to test and or verify a "bug" or play complication.
So, TDP, TGOLD, and TMA saves (for the proper version) can be plugged in and out with no trouble. I simply rename the original SAVES as OLD, and then Move in the SAVES files that I want. When I'm done, I CUT/PASTE the folder I was just using out to a new location, and rename the OLD back to SAVES.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. I went back to check the mentioned areas (patched version, thought I don't think there are any changes), and found that If you run into the window, keep running, and then crouch you can make it through quite easily.
Also just in case anyone doesn't know this, some crawlspaces are too small to get through if you move into them without "bobbing" Garrett (which is when he makes audible sounds on the ground), for which the best way to get Garrett "bobbing" is to run-crawl in these circumstances.

Yeah, I've found that multiple times. I find that walking is fine, though, no need to run. Just don't sidle slowly along the wall.
