A good article, and every word is true. Thanks for sharing this!

[QUOTE=]If you're like me, and you were drawn into Thief's exploratory and voyeuristic gameplay elements, built on finding and reading personal notes or eavesdropping on NPCs, then all that texture and character-building, based on the game's fully developed religions, did its job. The deep cultural detail made you curious, it got you to spend more time in levels that you could've dashed through, and it made the game more than a stealth pass/fail exercise. It gave you a world worth prowling through.
Simply put, the detail provided by Thief's religions made stealth gaming workNice article, he's frothing but hey, aren't we all at some point?
Fits well with what's been getting discussed on ThiefIV anticipation in the various storyline threads.

It may have a lot of truth in it but god what a dull read it was. The guy nearly bored me to death. Terrible writing, no passion, just lifeless. And he just says some stuff, none of it was a revelation. None of it was really interesting, just correct. The Escapist has some really dull writers on it and thats why I stopped reading it.

Hmm, well, mmm-kay...
Fascinating read. I um... learned some... things?
Well, the hammerites in my opinion should be compared to the church of scientology... thats just me, anyway...
Nothing at all to do with this *ahem* interesting, thought provoking... article?
Dude, not that this isn't the attention thief has long waited for, but the fact that the guys at The Escapist are years late on bringing this up, i'm more than likely to step... over here a bit, and say "Whatever..." :laff:

Have to agree with you - seemed like he had a one paragraph idea and stretched it out to three pages by saying the same thing over and over again :laff:

I'm glad to see it brought up years later. It's putting it out there again, in case someone reads about it for the first time, and it's a major deal that--as boring as the article is--it is correct! Accuracy is in short supply when it comes to Thief.

True... but it's fairly old news for the most part, anyway...

Oh really? How so? I always thought they were like the Catholic Church during the time of the Inquisition, and by Inquisition I mean The Spanish Inquisition under the rule of Tomas de Torquemada.

Hammerites are believable. Poor Mr Hubbard isn't
