Ok, i've found the info on which lockbox i've got to steal from, i've even found the vaul and shutdown the mechanical face guarding it. The only problem is I can't find a way to open the lock. I've tried blowing it up, hitting it, and shooting it. I ventured up to the third floor hoping to find some info. I did when I found myself in the security office. There was a note saying something to the effect of the lock is on a time relese. So, now i'm figureing i've got to manipulate some soret of clock or something to trick the vault lock into thinking it's a certain time so it will open. Thing is, i'm tired of looking around and something tells me I interpreted the note wrong. Can you guys set me straight on this? Thanks.

well... ...have you gone in the basement and opened the lock for the vault door? :)

Well i'll be that's the one place I havne't bothered to check. My initial impression was who would keep anything of any value in a reletivly open basement? Thanks, i'll look into it.

one more thing. you can find a note somewhere in the bank (can't remember where) from the mechanists to the bank manager that says something about the "basement lock system that keeps his vault closed (and how hammer tech can be manipulated)"
edit: sorry if I spoiled the note

Try playing the game. That means EXPLORE EVERY INCH OF THE ROOMS AND AREAS. Yeah, I'm shouting. Your multiple posts over the last few days are an indication that you are still trying to play as a SHOOTER.
You need to read everything, search every inch of every place you go and explore the entire map area.
Stop trying to "win" or "beat" the Game and play the damn thing.
So far your questions have involved very simple problems, all of which the game gives you ample clues for.
I can't wait until you have a real problem, and you will. My guess it will be Kidnap or Precious Cargo. Both of which need you to think a little, and don't give you as many clues to work with.

Hehe, give the kid a break, haven't we all started out that way?
(hey lookie, I sneaksied and backstabbed/ko'ed everyone! I rule!!)
Then you discover the art of ghosting and suddenly .. your massive
killing spree isn't so impressive anymore :P
The obvious "try not to run through the game" hint has already been dispensed I see... also, if you see something unusual, or out of place (like a torch you didn't put out, or a wall with an odd texture) try and frob it , half of the time you'll find some thiefy goods :D
Thief is about being perceptive, no matter if you iron man or sneaksie through it!

Perhaps if the new players dig in and really learn to search the levels thoroughly, and then learn to search the forums and archives thoroughly, they will learn the OTHER way to get into the vault.
No... Don't give it away!

Admittedly I don't come here very often but I don't recall an alternate way into the vault. It is a vault after all, not exactly something to have a back door.
I'm trying to recall, but I have a feeling that I could never properly deal with those security cameras inside of the vault itself without using fire arrows. There didn't seem to be enough shadows and cover to move around unnoticed.
