Hey null, you keep an eye out for openings in the BioShock team, alright? The cradle was terrific...

but why is the cradle NEWER than the city!??
It is blatantly a victorian asylum!

I say, are there any cheats to skip levels as there were in Thief 1 and 2? I'm in the Inner Cradle right now, and I've been crawling and cringing up to the treatment rooms. I might have to back out of this one, the night light's been on for a week now. I'd rather do the Abysmal Gale on Expert rather than this on Normal. Is there an "easier" way then? Thanks!

I dunno if there're any cheats, but I personally
STRONGLY suggest you playing through this mission rather than skipping it. I could play through it in expert the first time, without any single problem.
It is a mission a little bit like "Sabotage at Soulforge", as you have to complete quite a number of tasks in a sequence in order to finish it, with those undead patients walking around. It is the best mission in TDS. Shame it is not the last mission in the whole game~_~

:) When I played the Cradle for the first time, my nerves were shot when I was supposed to enter the Inner Cradle, just like yours. Unfortunately I don't know any cheats to make the mission easier and believe me, it won't become any easier from where you're now... :-D Try the walkthrough if you just want to do it quickly.

I think its been pretty well established that the "Thief Universe" is deliberately full of anachronisms, you only need to look at the first two games, but particularly Thief 2, which has missions where medieval castles and victorian era mansions inhabit the same street :cheeky:
Even the very first mission of Thief 1 has a medieval castle complete with flame torches on the walls and yet in the street outside there are electric arc street lamps, which didn't exist until the late 1800's.
And I wont even mention the Thief 2 security Bots or turrets ;)
That anachronistic style is what made the first two Thief games a bit different from most other games... you were in an environment which was familiar, but somehow strange and different.
I actually think Thief 3 is almost totally devoid of this anachronistic style, except for the hammerite machinery, and I think it suffers because of it.

I think it still has those variations. It has the electric lights and torches, it has the magical glyphs and the magic, yet is still a fairly down to earth world...It doesn't have as much of it, but I think it is still there.

Personally, I kind of miss the old Thief 1 and 2 streetlamps. Like they made them out of a mix of both technology and magic.

Hey, I have a question about the Cradle.
In the inner cradle, the observatory tower, there is an undead patient walking around and quite a few number of paintings on the tables.
I took a closer look and found that, creepily, all the faces of the pictures were covered by a pattern of red hand, same to those outside a fence.
I, somehow, feel this is very odd and...scary. Who did this? Why did they do so?
