Well, I am not quite sure about it, cause I never got near those mad undeads in the cradle. But I believe that their awareness is even higher than zombies, that even if you're not standing very near to a lying-down patient, he (it) can suddenly jump up.
However, I would like to ask what weapons other than holy water can KO them? Can fire arrow or mines kill them?
Another thing, if one wants to test those undead patients, there is a safe area. It is in the treatment room, through the main door, not the backway. When you enter, you are standing on a long metal lane with rails. Climb across either one side of the two rails and shoot a broadhead into the undead patient to test him (it).
I missed the chance to test them. What a shame.~_~
Puppets (where did they even get that name from?) can go down with holy water and mines as well. I used the mines the most, 'cause I wanted to save the Holy Water for the Morgue. I was a bit unsure about the mines at first 'cause the lights still flickered even when they went down, but yeah it's permanent.

Hey, I have a question about the Cradle.
In the inner cradle, the observatory tower, there is an undead patient walking around and quite a few number of paintings on the tables.
I took a closer look and found that, creepily, all the faces of the pictures were covered by a pattern of red hand, same to those outside a fence.
I, somehow, feel this is very odd and...scary. Who did this? Why did they do so?
:( I always thought it was blood, placed there by a deranged mind who had dipped his hand into the stuff first to do so.

And are they supposed to keep messing with the lights, even after they're down? o_O;;
They always seemed to with me. No matter how I took them out. Either with mines, or flashbombs, or holy water, or fire arrows. So I guess so.
And what was that one puppet doing near electroshock? He looked like he was trying to freaking dig his way out of the Cradle.

I see, but how come that insane guy put his bloody hand right onto the faces of the pictures, not other parts?
I don't know what that undead patient is doing in the shock-treatment room, because I don't dare walk near it and see~_~. Maybe I should use enter through the surgery room, take out that undead patient inside and use the small passage to go to the shock-treatment room and have a look.

Perhaps your mistake is assuming that there is any logic behind what someone insane does ?
Maybe he did it because he's insane..... :laff:

There is no rhyme or reason in most deranged minds.

Wasn't it said that one of the patients said to be a painter. In fact, I believe it was mentioned by Null before that he was the one
blamed for Lauryl's death
. What really creeped me out was the gems placed on top of where the eyes were supposed to be... that and the blood looked pretty fresh :eww: (or maybe it was just red paint? :laff: )
BTW, anyone know whats up with the skeleton behind the desk in the Hall of Records? As far as I remember, thats the only non-walking dead you see (though I later realized I missed places like the lobotomy theatre and cell #1 when I rushed through, so I could be wrong...).

Ow, there was a skeleton? :( Can't this get any scarier then. I missed it 'cause I played everything on Normal. :wot:

There was supposed to have been some big fire in the Cradle. Perhaps he was just one of those poor souls caught in it.
There was a human skeleton on the desk/table? of patient number one as well. The note + the human bones really erked me. I think the freak ate someone.

Or maybe it's the guy that made a bet to spend one night in the Cradle:
"To: Lord Percival Pitwick, landowner
From: C. Brackit and Sons, odd jobs
About your request to enter into a contract to tear down the old Shalebridge Cradle building in Old Quarter - I must respectfully decline, as that building is cursed and worse than haunted, and I wouldn’t step foot near it, and I wouldn’t never send my sons there neither. Don’t you remember that awful fire there way back when? I say it was a demon fire, and so say the few survivors. Plus, there was poor Wallace Crumb, who I’m sure never made the acquaintance of a fine Lord like yourself, but who was a decent chap. He made a bet to spend a night in that place. Well, that was nine years ago, and I ain’t seen him since. Awful sorry we can’t be of help. But if you got any odd jobs round your house, you can count on Brackit and Sons."
This note can be found in Old Quarter outside the Cradle entrance.

Finished the cradle mission and ive got a question - all those puppets are meant to represent the insane patients right. Well i remember once - i think it was in the memories - there was a note saying the staff lost a patient during one of their 'treatments'. Was that patient the Painter? And is that represented in the fact that there are less than 9 undead insane patients? Forgive me if this has been asked before.
