Robin Williams, star of Jumanji, dead in apparent suicide - by nobodyinparticular

I actually remember him largely from Jumanji, but I imagine most people see way more movies than me. But he was in so many TV shows and movies, for years and years, right up until now. It seemed like he would be around for years and years to come. Very sad that he isn't.
Since this is TTLG, obligatory reposting of (

Damn shame. He was still great in pretty much everything he starred in, and I liked the more serious roles he took in later years. Insomnia, World's Greatest Dad, etc.

So sad. I'm going to watch Toys, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Patch Adams... then cry.

Jumanji? Seriously? That's the role you chose to bring up?
I know, I've should've said flubber right?. It's a shame that someone who made the world laugh was evidently suffering from major depression and couldn't get the help he needed. Tears of a clown an' all that.

I've been making my way through Homicide: Life in the Streets recently.
Funnily enough, the episode I saw not two days ago had Robin Williams in it coming to terms with his wife being shot in the streets in front of him. Jake Gyllenhaal was playing his son.
[edit] I'd rather remember him for that than Jumanji. I mean, really. [/edit]

Good Will Hunting will always be one of those rare films I can watch numerous times without getting tired of it.

I feel it's pretty easy to forget a movie that had Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in it. In fact I'm having a hard time to tell the two apart. Or Mark Wahlberg.

For me, it was Dead Poets Society. First "serious" role I remember him doing, and it was surprising/amazing.

Each to their own Kolya - I was only speaking for myself.
