Bethesda are apparently publishing Rebellion newest game, Rogue Warrior. It's due out in 2-3 days according to Steam, yet there's been zero press coverage nor media material (ie trailers, screenshots) since like the last E3. That is often not a good sign, if you recall Eidos slipped out Rebellion's last FPS,
Shellshock 2: Blood Trails, without any marketing behind it - that game got universally panned by the critics.
I managed to find some gameplay footage:-

By the looks of it, it's a run of the mill FPS with some optional half-arsed stealth gameplay. You can perform knife kills with canned animations when up close in an enemy's face. Shoot out the fusebox that powers the lights and all of the enemies are blinded, making them sitting ducks. There's also a cover system instead leaning, it switches perspectives to 3rd person from first whilst in cover. The AI awareness seems utterly rubbish, judging from those gameplay captures.
The game's gimmick seems to be that the playable protagonist is voiced by Mickey Rourke and proceeds to swear a lot and spout bad one-liners.
"God damn cock breath, commie mother fuckers!" "Get dead, fuck bag!" Oh please.
This looks like the epitome of a bargain bin game, TBH. At this time of writing, there's been no reviews listed on neither Gamerankings nor Metacritic, but I highly doubt they will be all that kind.
This and
Shellshock 2 make me all the more pessimistic for how
Aliens vs. Predator 3 (also by Rebellion) will turn out. Obviously we should and see until the reviews are out before judging AvP3 (or this game for that matter), but that doesn't mean that one can't have concerns.

To be fair, it was shown (and I believe playable) at the Eurogamer Expo, so I wouldn't say it's had no press. Still, marketing certainly isn't in overdrive.

Ahahaha are you kidding? The game looks awesome, especially the main character's comments and the completely overdone killing animations. I literally laughed out loud when he turned the guy around and jabbed him in the eye with a knife. But then again I'm Koki.
I also like how you can run and still be completely stealthy. It makes the game more ninja-stealth instead of standard sitting-in-a-corner-for-five-minutes-waiting-for-the-enemy-to-turn-around stealth. We definitely need more ninja-stealth games, last one we had was what, AvP?

The second coming of Duke Nukem, you reckon? Yeah nah.
It's already been leaked to torrent sites. People have been completing it within like 3-4 hours reportedly.

I really like the Quick Kill option, not enought games have it. Also like the protagonist. But yeah, defenitely not anything more than a bargain buy.

I get the impression this game is what MW2 would be if it didn't totally suck (I'm assuming that part of making it not suck would involve removing everything but the spec ops missions).

Well, it's really a different league. Duke was a hero. This guy's just a dick.

Dick Marcinko, to be precise. I knew this game would be horrible when they sent us the lockit but I didn't know it would be that bad :eww:

I see that children these days need their hands held through stealth games.
It took you a whole five minutes to sit in a corner to wait for the enemy to turn around? Really?
