Finished the mission, guess I just needed to get the hang of it a little. Most things worked as they were supposed to, I thought it was a WAY cool mission.
Just one little thing. I missed one of the three "secrets."
the warehouse safe and the loot behind the cave-in
were pretty obvious, but I have no idea at all what the third one was....

HELP!!! Nightwalker, do you have a save game after the safe or the proper combination to open the safe? I have tried using the stethoscope ad nauseum and get nothing but a big bang. Nothing sounds different when using it, or maybe I just am not using it correctly. Anyway, HELP!!!

Don't panic! You probably just haven't used the stethescope properly. When you "use" it in the correct place on the safe, Garrett says something like "NOW we're getting somewhere" or something to that effect. I think you use it on the dials themselves or very close to them.
After that, you have to change the dials with the arrows until each one makes a loud "click". You have to alternate moving them, too, because if you move one of them more than 3 clicks (I think, it could be 4) at a time, they reset. Once they have all clicked into place, then you can open it. Don't ever use the key because it's only a trap. You'll die every time.
That being said, if you're having a problem with the safe, just skip it. There's really not all that much in there and you don't have to get into it to finish the mission at all. I hope that helps! :)

I'm having a couple of major troubles with this FM. First is that I can't spend all the loot I've collected at the store. I have 325 gold and it says I can't afford anything other than broadheads or a water arrow; limited quantities of items, perhaps? Second, at some point, my light gem got stuck on high so that where ever I am, I'm very obvious, even in deep shadow. Restoring to a much earlier save seems to be the only solution.
Also,
it's not a real problem but having my image from the cutscene hanging around is disconcerting.
Anyone else experience the same?
Another question. I finished the game and the stats screen showed that I missed 500 in loot, 2 secrets, and an amazing 12 potential KO's. Is there another area that's not essential to win the game where this stuff might be?

I haven't heard of those particular problems before with this FM. Are you trying to spend just your gold total or your total of gold, gems and goods? It could be that you're only allowed to spend the gold itself. The store has always worked for me.
Did you go through the mines or straight into the house? If you missed the mines you could have missed some loot and KO's. It isn't essential to finish the mission. Other than that, I can't think of any area that you would have missed. There's nothing much out in town. You can get into the Chapel, but there's no loot in there. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

That hint about the combination to the safe isn't very meaningful to me. The display of the tumblers is pretty straight forward, but they don't respond in a complete circle. Rather, they spring backwards in the opposite direction. That is judging from the red marker on each tumbler. So when I'm told (I think) that the smallest tumbler should be three to the right and one to the left, I can only get it to go two to the right, then it snaps back. Now am I going about this the wrong way? I don't understand the last bit anyway, but right now, I'm struggling to get through the first set.

The absolute only way into that safe is with the stethescope. Once you've "used" it properly on the safe, Garrett says something like "Now we're getting somewhere" or something to that effect. After that you can hear the tumblers when they click into the proper place. You have to alternate moving them, though, as you can only turn each one 2 or 3 clicks before it resets.

Of Coarse...the STETHESCOPE ! It's so obvious now. I looked at it for the longest time in the shop, wondering when it was going to come in handy. But expensive !! I see I'm going to have to play the level a bit longer in order to afford the break-in.
But that will be later, for now I need some serious sleep. Thanks for the advice.

The Stethoscope only helped me hear what I'm doing. It still doesn't explain the instructions. Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but two right one left for the small tumbler is doing nothing.I get a "click" noise regardless of what combination I choose. And when I "click" all three, they look like they were in the same position as when I started. Plus the lever won't budge at all.
That's not the least of my problems. I solved the gravity well room, but not other two. I know there was a message somewhere about them, and I'm currently trying to find the notes again. So right now I'm alternating between cracking the safe and solving the riddle of the Orb and that other thing in the Wizardry Room. In case I don't, could somebody help out, and I promise to only peek at the solutions:ebil:

I'm not sure what instructions you're referring to, but you really don't need any. Just don't move any one dial more than 2 or 3 times in a row, or they reset and you have to start over again. Just start with the top arrows, move it once, go move the middle or the bottom one one place, then go back to the other one. Eventually, you will hear a louder "click" which will mean the one you just turned is right. Then alternate between the other two, until you get them right too. There's not all that much in there anyways.
Orb -
You have to go down and put out the fire in the furnace. There is a bug that sometimes occurs here and the field doesn't turn off. Apparently, some people can pick it up anyway, but I always get killed. I find it works if I make sure the fire is out before I go into that part of the house, so if you hit the bug, you could try restarting from a save before you opened the gate into these rooms.
I'm also not sure what you mean by that "other thing in the Wizardry room", so I can't help with that. :)
