climbing gloves were a bodge in TDS because some developer went away, wrote a per pixel renderer and borked the engine in the process making it extremely difficult if not impossible to add rope arrows in the time frame of the games development
the fan community has since added rope arrows to TDS and the results are pretty good, but there was a lot of work involved to get them to that stage
so rope arrows, with these we don't need climbing gloves
and swimmable water please, not just a killzone with a water texture stuck on the top

I already voted for rope arrows, but as I see other options are also mentioned, so PLEASE let the jump-overs be bearable to do :erg:

Rope arrows definitely. Climbing gloves are useful in some circumstances, but overall rope arrows are unbeatable

This has come up so many times, and rarely gets to the deeper reasoning:
To those who vote for "Both", how many of you personally want just one for yourself, but are actually being diplomatic and kind and asking for the option for other players? How many are asking for both but want at least one reworked fundamentally and implemented differently (not just expanded on)?

If we added an "either" option I'd vote for that, otherwise "both".
I don't really care what mechanism Garrett uses to move around in unauthorized ways, as long as he can.

Rope arrows.
Rope/vine arrows allow more versatility in level design IMHO. The player has to think about places he can get to, how to get there, and whether a particular surface will accept an arrow or bounce it off. Climbing gloves just didn't do the same for me. Besides, Garrett is a thief, not a ninja.
