That wouldn't even cover more than half of what rope arrows allow.

maybe you should list all the things rope arrows allow otherwise anyone could go on suggesting never knowing if there getting closer to what rope arrow allow.

Your question is irrelevant jtr - climbing gloves offer something completely different.

rope arrows, climbing gloves, sticky boots(let you walk upside down), double jump and levitation spell
or it isn't thief
zachary1975 on 6/8/2011 at 21:08
that sound like a great idea.
however a levitation spell would make it so you didn't need any of the others and make the game too easy.

Please don't say such things. People from EM may be lurking here and take this seriously and give them the wrong ideas.

I prefer both. I always loved the rope arrows, but I generally felt like a professional burglar while I was climbing up the side of Widow Moyra's house to break in in Thief 3. If they have rope arrows, they should be able to do some more advanced physics. For example:
When I need to cross a chasm that has a wood beam suspended up in the middle above lava, I should be able to fire a rope arrow into it but "hold on" to the other end of the rope so that I don't have to jump out and hope that I can grab the rope before hitting the bottom.
I guess in real life this would be a dumb thing to do, because any "rope arrow" that gets stuck in a surface strong enough to support the weight of a human would also pull me right over the edge if the rope got pulled tight.

I'd rather feel like I'm an ex-Keeper in The City, than a burglar in a city.
Professional burglars are less likely to scale walls magically, so I don't feel anymore realism from the gloves.
