Rope arrows... - by Palantir

I have had enough of this!
Can anyone tell me how to jump on a rope arrow "properly"?
It seems that the only rope I successfully jumped on at once was that in the keeper's trainning.
Once in Thieves Guild, I tried to catch the rope, and as a result it threw me to the opposite wall.
And many times, when I tried to jump on it, I just bounced up and down on the rope, and then ended up: 1) If I'm lucky I'll remain on the rope 2)Or I fell to the ground.
Also, sometimes, even I haven't pressed jump key, I can catch the rope and climb, but sometimes, even I pressed jump key, I just jump across that rope...:nono:
Can anyone help me to slove this problem?

Rope arrows are a bit buggy in T1. It's just the way it is, so I doubt you are doing anything wrong. In T2 there is no problem.

...most of the time...
Actually, in T1 I never had any problems AT FIRST (like in 1998/1999), but somewhere along the line I started getting them. Maybe I just never noticed it, or got lucky, or maybe something changed in our computers, with the newer processors/memory/etc that handled the program differently.

Seems to me it's only been a real headache with thief Gold. With TDP I almost never have trouble with the rope arrows.

The bounce bug usually doesn't happen repeatedly when used at different locations.
Now, I'm not saying you're doing this, but the description makes it sound like you're pressing the jump/mantel key after you've clung to it already. I've never heard the bounce bug described this way. I hate it when it happens already, and this means it could get worse.
DromEd'ers.... What are the results of changing the collision parameters? Why was "bounce" chosen?

Wait for the rope arrow to settle down before jumping. In Thief Gold, when the rope arrow is still moving from the deployment, you will be much more likely to be bounced off of it when you jump on to it.

Also, try not to shoot rope arrows so that the rope is too close to walls/items/obstrucitons. From my experiences it can cause problems with climbing/attaching.

True. And the problem gets even more severe when you can't afford to fail - like scaling the tower that the fire talisman is in. Failing to stay on the rope ~= failing to stay alive.

Problems indeed. The first time I tried using a rope arrow was in the T2 demo. I positioned it wrong, and as a result flew 50 feet sideways and off the rooftops. I was sort of hesitant to use them for a while after that.

:laff: And to think that some people here when reading some threads are complaining about wall climbing gloves, no rope arrows in T3 and how "buggy" T3 is. Some people are never satisfied
