The script module on its own is attached if anyone needs it.
Edit: No idea why it ended up with that weird filename.

erm.. sorry about this.. but.. can someone be a little more exact on what's really changed? (well.. don't need to describe every little detail if it's a major spoiler but something close would be nice)..
Rose Cottage was a great mission, but like many, one that when you get rid of surprised and shocks, becomes a little... so-so.. no.. that's not the right word.. it's still great, but alot of the feeling of not knowing what evil lurks just around the corner is gone.. I might have been the mood i was in, but i remember the first time, i kinda lost the full sence of being IN the game and this creature could harm me, and i saided to think.. well, i know there is something around the corner, and it's not like i can't just restart the game if i lose...
So really.. is this enough of an update to get a new feeling but with the same game, or should i kinda wait a while after playing the level, to kinda 'forget' to get the first time feeling again?

Can anyone give me a hand? I want to play this mission but I find it absolutely impossible with the way it wants to run on my system. Basically, from the time the mission loads, it goes through all of Garrett's lines in the first mission of the original Thief 2 game on a repetitive cycle. It takes a huge amount away from the actual gameplay since the chatter is in my ear all the time and it keeps me from concentrating on what is going on.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Saturnine on 12/12/2010 at 16:07
That sounds like you are missing the 'snd' folder, not sure how that happened
The wind for example is just a looped wav that replaces one of Garretts lines (because I'm lazy) and if it was missing the game would just play Garrets lines over and over and would indeed sound horrible! :p
Maybe you could use darkloader to revert back to thief2 original setting and then install Rose Cottage again?
Actually, if you wait just a day or so, I've just sent the final version to Jason at Thief Missions, with the U.V. Lamp bug fixed (thanks N.V.)
The Dark Jester on 12/12/2010 at 16:53
Used Darkloader to revert back to T2 and then reinstalled. Still the same issue. I deleted that download and downloading the original version from Komag's site. From going through the thread of the re-release, the bugs weren't too noticable.
BTW, I checked the zip file and it contained the snd folder. Not sure what the problem is. What it's doing is playing all of his lines at once, not consecutively (in case there was confusion) and repeating them. Yeah, hard on the ears....
EDIT: Nope, the original version has the same problem. Does having Darkloader in a subfolder of where thief2.exe is make a difference?

Hopefully the final FINAL version is here: (

Thanks Jason.
Dark Jester, I'm sorry you're having a hard time getting it to run but I really don't know what could be causing that, for it to load everything else fine just not the snd folder, weird!
When you reinstall thief 2 original settings, maybe it's leaving the folder behind, might be worth checking? (just guessing now!)
Good luck with it, hope you get some help from someone who knows about Dark Loader a bit more than me.

Dark Jester, have you tried what is mentioned under Clean up of files in the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48202) FAQ thread? It might work if you have a \snd folder hanging around from some other mission.
Congrats on the "final" version, Dave!

Is the NV script the only thing changed in the final version? I ask because I never had problems and will keep version 2 if so. Thanks for the clarification!:angel::thumb:

The Victrola never played for me...did it ever play for anyone else? If so then I have a small glitch to deal with and this post is unnecessary. If not...
Almost two years ago I played Rose Cottage. It is the perfect horror mission; it doesn't get better than this.
Replaying it one year ago for Halloween, I realized that the Victrola never played, and I remember hoping it would. But sure enough, exploring the snd folder there it was: a sound file labeled "victrola" which was a haunting classical piece (Beethoven's 3rd symphony, 2nd movement I believe).
I bump this thread for October 2011 to make a humble case for Rose Cottage V3, where the Victrola plays once, maybe twice, (and maybe a couple other unexpected things happen...).

The way it is ................ it's already a really great Haloween mission:cool:
The first entry, walking along a hurse gives one already a great Thieflike feeling :sly:
I'm not sure about the victrola working  I thought it did.
Let's all play this for another round! :ebil:  ... ouch ....that hurt! devil against angel .... :joke:
