My brain is locking up on trying to comprehend a game that's inspired by Thief AND System Shock 2.

Emergent gameplay and a focus on atmosphere would be the common threads, I imagine.

That's just Thief all by itself. If it also turns out to be an open-world action RPG, then I could see that as the SS2 influence they're referencing. It sure as heck doesn't look anything like SS2.

Sons about right. Looks nice. Will check the site later.

Ah, that makes more sense.
I assume it's deliberate that none of those dreamcatcher designs look like real dreamcatchers.
And that the "runes" have no actual runes on them.

Interesting idea, adrian...I look forward to your progress.
Also, this probably should be moved to General Gaming.

How passive/aggressive of you, ZB.
@adrian - how do both ruins and runes figure into your game? Any more info you can give us on plot/characters/setting/systems? There's not a lot to go on yet, if you're seriously looking for feedback.

Right you are ZB!
For the Dreamcatchers we wanted them to represent a particular spirit animal that the player would choose, i.e. Bear representing offensive type players, Fox for stealth, etc.
"Runes" is indeed more appropriate, as its merely a code name for the sake of development, we haven't finalized the name yet.

Thank you Vae, I appreciate the interest! I'll see what I can do to correct the placement of the post.

One of the game's central themes is the lesser known slavery of Native Americans during the 1800s, as well as pre-Civil War, as Native Americans were enslaved well before then. The game's story itself, while trying my best not to give too much away, is primarily about two brothers, Marcus and Bryan Talbot, and where they fit into Native beliefs of punishment and life and death. The ruins that you see are relics of a tribe that once lived in the dense, marsh forest that the player will explore in the game. The area was once used to farm sugarcane.
