I can't seem to get to the entrance of the Hall of Mirrors. Everytime I climb down the first rope and get to the second rope, there ends my life! I see the corridor and have tried to push my forward button, but no luck. I just get swept away and killed. Help Please!

A very difficult FM in my opinion. :tsktsk:
........I'm halfway into the mission and I agree that it's as tough as well as amusing and challenging ... great work, I'd say
nonetheless I'd be stuck into the mines unless walkthrough had come for help: I'm still wondering where is located the hint indicating how to manage beheaded fiends
metal dawn on 6/8/2005 at 21:42
Ah yes, the Fiends. These are demons conjured by Bantar specifically for his own protection. They are not harmed by fire, gas, or holy water IN ANY WAY.
However, Constantine's Sword and broadhead arrows easily bring them down. I suspect this is because...
BEWARE THE SPOILERS:
1. Bantar used the Book of Darkness to conjure the demons (it was last held by Constantine, if I remember correctly)
2. Constantine is, of course, an alter-ego of the Trickster. Perhaps because the sword was owned by the Trickster, it can be used to destroy his creations.
3. Bantar is possessed by Constantine/The Trickster because the amulet, giving reason for the above two statements.

when time passes between every period of Thief playing, one should keep a diary to better remember the stories ;)...thanks
I have two questions to add to my troubleshooting:
where is explained the sequence of buttons to the throne room ?

my same problem too...please YcatX, come back from spacetime and help us :)
BTW: thanks a lot, for this mission: to me its complexity makes it just about a masterpiece (and I dream about similar missions with TDS updated graphics) for effort and creativity

Are you saying I'm long-winded, Tozzifan?
Yeah, I guess you're right.
It's probably because I haven't played Originia in months (actually more like a year) and I'm itching to replay it (all these new FMs keep getting in my way).
I think I did pretty good with my information considering how much time has passed. :)
Tozzifan on 8/8/2005 at 07:11
yes, that I meant, and at the same time my memory didn't help me ... :)
btw: by chance, do you remember pleeease :eww: how to reach the Hall of mirrors? (no one replied and the search was fruitless)
I've "planted" the rope arrows into the three targets in the red bottomed pit with the white column of smoke; I am able to descend two of three ropes, but then I start a deadly fall and I don't understand what else to do to enter the corridor

That mission has too many "try and die" bits, where you could not possibly know something is going to kill you, and the only way to get past it is to go through with it and die, reload, and work around it with previous knowlege of what will happen since you reloaded.
Any good game should be techincally possible to complete without dying once (even though unlikely). In other words, reloading should not be a requirement :erg: Hardly immersive.
One good thing about I do appreciate how it does seem possible to kill the majority of undead one way or another, including finding all the fire arrows

Tozzifan,
Here's the link for the walkthrough, not sure if you've seen it? (
http://forums.eidosgames.com/old-ubb/) There is a map of the order of the bottons. Hope you find it helpful?
Haven't been able to finish the mission yet, still waiting for someone to help us out! :thumb:
