It's like a slightly more high tech Flintstones car.
This.
I prefer electricity / batteries ... not sure how far we are at that path (seems that petrol companies still have considerable detrimental influence there).
* From the few people i know - it is currently dirt cheap compared to petrol even in our wintery conditions, but lacks duration (not a problem for what they are used for, but clearly a problem in general case).
* Running pollution (from the source plant for the non-pertol car) should be only a fraction of a petrol car (plants are more efficient than what a car can carry around) ... don't know whether this is already true or not (efficiency covers for transfer losses etc). Anyone know more?
* End life pollution ... not sure, should not make any difference either way, but probably are not there yet. Dunno which is more problematic currently.
Bah, cars. Whatever. Give me something that flies already!

I don't see any point in designing futuristic cars unless they make that noise like the ones in the Jetsons.

:)
Actually, that is a real problem with electric cars - have to be extra careful as noone bloody notices you (as complained by every user here).

This is depressing. As far as I'm concerned, the silence of electric cars is a great step forward and I don't care for people too stupid to pay attention to their environment.
God I would be furious if every car backing up beeped loudly or played stupid memes out of a speaker.

On the other hand, there are a lot of situations where just seeing the car (blind corners, humps in the road etc...) would be too late to stop an accident. If you can alert 2 sense instead of 1, seems useful to me.

Yeah or if you're walking along a country dirt road, with earbuds in, as I often do, being able to hear cars coming up behind is very useful. Cars making noise is definitely a feature, not a bug.

Agreed, even As much as i hate city traffic noise. As an avid biker, i rely on audiotory clues A LOT to avoid getting hit by things.
