That's a powerful documentary about the Maidan.
It's so absurd for Putin & the Russian war machine to think these people don't even really exist, as if Ukrainians don't have free will and the whole thing must be some US orchestrated Hollywood production. Most Americans couldn't find Ukraine on a map and the US political establishment stopped caring about East Europe almost as soon as the Cold War was over.
But it's so clear from that documentary that it's the Ukrainians themselves that wanted rule of law and a functioning democracy, that they wanted to be a part of Team Europe where those things mean something and not Team Russia where those things are a joke, and that they built that entire movement from the grassroots up.

Putin knows that "IT'S THE NATO" is bogus argument. It's just the classic imperialistic-irredentist war.....200 years later but the NATO argument is really powerful among european AND american far rights (and far lefts).
Always remember: Russia="we are the third Rome, we are the civiliZation at its finest so we have the right to do whatever it takes to bring order" (to subjects)
It really comes down to this and nothing more. That's the russian elite mindset and it will remain for centuries IF they don't lose this war BADLY. Just like Germany 80 years ago.
And always remember that lagers are NOT a german invention, they were a german adaptation of russian pogroms: it's NOT by chance, just read the kaiser Wilhelm II way before the austrian painter.....

Not the beer.

He means, like, konzentrationslager... which were not really a Russian invention either, having been used by various European powers in Philippines, South Africa, Cuba, etc.

Yes but I've said "just read the kaiser Wilhelm II", 'cause (from wikipedia)
Wilhelm advocated a "regular international all-worlds pogrom à la Russe" as "the best cure" and further believed that Jews were a "nuisance that humanity must get rid of some way or other. I believe the best thing would be gas!(

That somehow reminds me I wrote a whole paper in lawschool on the famous Reinheitsgebot (beer purity) case in Bavaria, where the state law didn't allow you to call a drink beer if it had "chemicals". (They were no doubt thinking about British and American beers which they thought should more properly be called schaum Pißwasser.) It's an interesting case. When you read it and all the commentary, in the back of your mind you can't help but keep thinking sooo... is nobody gonna talk about what happens when Bavarians start talking about legally sanctioning things based on their purity? =V
Granted beer is special there. And lest one think I'm unfairly taking the Piß out of Deutschland, I'll be the first to jump on the bandwagon that after being off of American food and drink for a good number of years, when I do have them they're practically inedible & inimbibable they're so unnaturally chemical-y.
Well, we're supposed to be taking the моча out of Россия in this thread anyway, and it's doing a good job of deserving it lately. Every country is worth its own dedicated piss thread anyway. There's always enough to go around.

Just let me show you how russians can be so stupidely italian, being italian myself, about "patriotism".
With a guitar and a folk touch, for
babushka
note: the "great" Kolorev in the end - the bust decorated with medals - was sent to
gulag and his memory "saved" by the same man that.....has given the Donetsk region to Ukraine.
Maybe the average russian celebrating the russian Von Braun doesn't know this......
And just don't let me say anything about NOT the childish nuclear weapons glorification but the fact that:
1) the video is on youtube (evil western satanic-driven russophobe corporations.....)
2) every tool used to record the video AND in the video is designed for the english-speaking market.....the very same patch "
Army of Ska" of the "patriotic singer" is in english ( (

The comments in that video are turned off now, but they were pure gold when I read them. The song didn't go over quite as well with Youtube visiting Russians as they thought.
They were doing things like adding song lyrics in Russian in the vein of...
Eh, Mother Russia
crumbling down is the hut
but at least we have Sarmat

The only words I could understand were 'kontainer', 'komplex', 'ruski', 'matushka' and 'babushka'. Is he singing about his grandma's nuclear meatloaf, how it needed a complicated container?
