I was going through Thief 2 again this time using the Necro Age Mod and I had no issues but I just reached Sabotage at Soulforge,yesterday.First I had issue with what could be best described as pixelated rainbow textures in some areas that would stay there and others that would disappear as I got closer to them.But I fixed that after reinstalling the Necro Age.
Now comes the next two and more serious issues.Occasionally I could not use my bow when I had arrows equipped related to that is when I was able to use them some time the arrows would not have their intended effects for example fire arrows did not explode nor did vine arrows let down a vine another example was the sunburst device did not explode.I first ran into this issue in the turret workshop when trying to use the sunburst device to destroy some turrets so I could get to the signal tower.This issue existed on my quicksave and several hard saves but after I went back far enough it was fine.
The next issues was that for some reason when I tried to equip a weapon or sometimes just randomly the game would crash to desktop.I would get the message the Thief 2 the metal age as stopped responding.Let me put this in 5 years that I have been playing the Thief games I have very rarely had any bugs nor crashes and no crashes since New Dark until this. I was able to beat the level by throwing caution to the wind and just running to the last two towers and then to the exit.But I want to find out the cause of this issue and fix it,so I don't run into when playing T2X,Fan Missions or later playthroughs.I am real glad I didn't have to start the mission from the beginning though.
I even backed up my saves,uninstalled the game,restarted my computer,reinstalled the game and applied Tafferpatcher,added in the Necroage age and everything.
I am using an install with the GOG Version of the game.

you should have a crash.dmp in your T2 folder, post/link it here (thief2.log as well). it might be quite large, but should compress nicely, any online storage should have no problems with a 30-50mb file.

The fire arrow not working is a common bug. I also had it on Soulforge but I managed to get through it even tough my striking force was diminished. Oh and btw my fire arrows could still destroy turrets :joke:

You say you've used Tafferpatcher, but is this one of the versions that includes the NewDark patch? NewDark was added on 3rd Nov '12, so make sure your copy of TP is dated after that. Ideally you should use (

I am using the most recent version of Tafferpatcher I got it from the first link on the Tafferpatcher thread.Version 2.0.16
On a related note I was also able to fix my issue with not being able to enable EAX even with have openal installed,all I had to do was add Openal32.dll in my Thief folder.Also when doing my testing on my new fresh installs when doing Thief Gold I saw that everything in the Necro Age was working fine like it should since I use Tfix except for the texture for the Half-Timber style buildings which using the vanilla texture.What could have went wrong there since the Necro Age Texture for the Half-Timber style buildings is awesome looking.

edit lg.ini and set CrashDump=4
then make the game crash again. a full crashdump will be produced, zip it, upload and link (should have about 30-40mb after compressing). re-submint thief2.log as well (a new one will be generated).
